First off, I'm in a campaign now as a scout, and I'm loving the class. I'm ranged spec with Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot. I've got +4 Dex, Improved Initiative (+4), Quick Reconnoiter (+2 initiative), and Battle Fortitude (+1 Fort saves and +1 initiative) for a total of +11 on my initiative checks. It's gotten to the point that my DM has started to sigh when he says "Roll initiative."

He's already revealed that after this campaign we'll be playing a Gestalt (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/gestaltCharacters.htm) desert based campaign starting at 5th lvl. Think ancient Egypt, but turned 90 degrees right :D

My basic concept for my character is human 5/5 fighter/scout specializing in dual wield and high mobility. So far I've selected Quick Reconnoiter, Exotic Weapon Proficiency(Bastard sword), Two Weapon Fighting, Oversized Two Weapon Fighting, Dodge, Mobility, and Spring Attack. After lvl 6 when I get the lvl bonus feat, the fighter bonus feat, and the scout's Flawless Stride, I'd select Two Weapon Defense and Greater Two Weapon Fighting, I'd prestige into the Tempest and Dread Commando PrC's. My DM hasn't quite decided on the Dread Commando option just yet, mainly because he doesn't have the book, but he's suggested I might be able bribe him by buying it and Complete Arcane for him (and finally replacing that 12 pack of MT. Dew I drank).

I'd start off with a mwk chain shirt and two +1 swords, and that pretty much drains all of my starting gold. Later in the campaign, I'd pick up a pair of Boots of Striding and Springing for a 50 ft move, and a higher quality chain shirt and be a running, dodging, skirmishing, sudden striking whirlwind of steel.

I have somewhat of a hesitation about the Tempest class. Somewhere along the line a year or two ago, I heard that the Tempest PrC's Ambidexterity feature was changed or altered or something. I've searched the forums and the website for it, but I can't find any mention of it. I'll admit that I probably haven't looked in all the right places, but perhaps someone can point me to it, if not post it here?

Other than that, do you guys/girls have any thoughts or suggestions on weapon choice or alternate feat selections? I really like mobility and high AC's, and I love specialized characters.

The fluff behind dread commando *and some of its abils* do focus a bit towards being a heavily armoured beast.

However it still works fine without making use of this ability.
Sure you could find something more focussed on light armour though.

Seeing as you're going fighter the Weapon focus/spec chain is better than EWP bastard sword.

A bastard sword deals 0-2 dmg more than a longsword.
Focus instead gives +1 to attack which youll want seeing as you're dual wielding.
Spec gives you +2 dmg if you want to spend the extra feat.
Both are better options.

I believe you mean Improved 2-wep as your lvl 6 feat, not greater as that is a BaB +11 req.

In general though...... if you want to be a 2-wep fighter who is lightly armoured and mobile who doesnt make use of the weapon focus/spec chain then Ranger is a better option.
