| Khatoblepas03-23-07, 10:27 AM | I was looking through the Fiend Folio the other day, and I was wondering. The Fiends prestige classes are really awesome. I particularily like the Fiend of Corruption/Possession. They evoke a kind of mystique that I like to have in a character, and using these would be really good in an evil build. I was thinking about a Tiefling Warlock 7/Soul Eater 7/Fiend of Corruption 6 (with LA buyoff) as a kind of alternate Succubus (don't ask about the build, I forgot, but it does work, in theory... and with flaws =P), if you took Charm/Beguiling Influence/Walk Unseen etc. Really flavourful. Not to mention one level in Fiend of Possession gets you etherealness at will. So, what's your opinion on these prestige classes? Are they worth the trouble trying to attain the Evil subtype (Savage Species rituals)? Or are they worthless for anything but NPCs? |
| Kurama Youko03-24-07, 09:27 AM | i played a succubus fiend of possession, and i had about 4 lvs of it... and i can honestly say i have never had such free thinking fun in a D&D game. It reminds me of the stories i heard of 2nd edition where you could use your complete imagination without having to be bogged down by rules. I possesed doors to open locks. I possesed corpses to use as battle fodder. I possesed allies weapons and increased they enchancements and made the weapon especially potient against current enemies once they had been identified for me. (It was fun playing this role, I would have the wield say what they wanted me to grant their weapon. They loved me. :) I couldn't be touched practically because i was always possesing something, and if i made a good enough hide check no one could notice me either. Future I was planning on gaining Paladin of Slaughter for Divine Grace (had 40 Charisma!) So that anyone trying to use trap the soul or anything like that would fail miserably and when i tried to posses them would again fail miserably. :) I gave the character up though because she was to powerful even for me. There was literally nothing i couldnt do. |
