I am playing a cleric 6 bone knight 2 but I am confused on how you determine the amount of undead you can control at one time my domains are undeath and unbound. unbound allows me 3x my lvl in hd and that there is a similar ability for the bone knight but what and how does the math work for determining the total hd from everything but together for referance my chrarisma score is 19. I know i can't control a higher lvl creature in hd than my lvl but that is it. If anyone out there knows the math please let me know. Also what are some ways to optimize the amount of undead under my control for both now and in later levels.

I don't know if the Unbound/Bone Knight abilities stack (depends on the wording), but if it doesn't state otherwise it will. If both Unbound/Bone Knight states that you can control a number of HD of undeads equal to three times your CL (or something in thoese lines) it means you can currently control 24 HD worth of undead (8 multiplied by 3) if it states that you can control three times as many as you currently can, it stack and its 72 HD worth of undeads (your DM might want to rule something in that case)
(bolded the difference)

Edit: also when you reach the character level to do so... consider General of Undeath (8th level spell)... increases the ammount of undeads you can control by your CL... and should stack, according to RAW

02-13-08, 10:00 AM the bone knight is a PRC from the book five nations an Eberron book and I made a mistake it is acctually deatbound and not unbound for that domain.
My next question is if I didn't have these 2 abilities then how would i determine the amount of undead i can conrol?

02-20-08, 06:59 PM usually equal to your HD (stated in the spell entry), unless its summon undead (which effectively is a Summon monster but you get Undeads instead...)

02-20-08, 09:01 PM There's an errata for deathbound that you might want to check. It now changes the amount of undead you create with spells.
