The Concessionist

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/xphaser99x/judgement.jpg

The Concessionist views all forms of extremism such as Lawful, Good, Evil, and Chaos as a weakness. To align oneself at all times in such a manner, to him, is a weakness. A Concessionist exploits these alignments, by deep mediation and use of his own Ki to manipulate his very soul. After completing his meditation and augmenting his soul he gains all qualities of an alignment, including strengths and weaknesses.
Adventures: Concessionists often adventure to observe a wide manner of creatures operating in linear fashions, and he takes notes of these actions to further his own abilities. Only after finding weaknesses in others can he strengthen himself, the vow of many warriors; yet, his applications lie deeper than combat maneuvers and sleight of hand.
Alignment: The alignment of a Concessionist can be any form, but this is only after an augmentation. To begin meditation, he must first start from True Neutral. All sentiments about the world must be completely forgotten before he can build an alignment again. This includes not only common perception of what is good or evil, but what is ordered or completely unstructured.
Religion: While there are deities who are aligned with the true neutral, there are few who cater to the exact specifications of a Concessionist. A large majority of the Concessionists may worship no deity; however that is not to say that there are not some who worship certain elementals, and Silvanus. A notable amount of Concessionists also revere St. Cuthbert for his wisdom and desire for the truth, however they do not share his view on disciplined learning.
Background: The true neutral stance of a Concessionist can limit the potential progression in it’s ranks by other orthodox classes such as Paladin or Monk due to their Lawful and Good alignments. Druids and other spellcasters may find the abilities granted by the Concessionist to be very appealing. Another group who may find this class useful are those who fight in Melee combat, who wish to add a magical resistance or attack bonus. The largest percentages of comers are Monks who have stopped taking ranks due to a realization of folly in their strict discipline.
Role: The Concessionst often serves as a melee fighter, who finds being at the front ranks allows him to shrug off potential magical effects that his party may be prone to. However, there still is potential for spellcasters who may find that an augmented alignment fares very useful in opening potential casting options.

Augment Alignment: Once per day a Concessionist can use meditation to alter his very soul and change alignment. A Concessionist can use this special ability once per day. Meditation takes 10 minutes to complete, and any interruption breaks concentration. If this occurs, the Concessionist must start all over. The effects of Augment Alignment last for as long as he desires, however to change alignment once again, he must first revert to True Neutral once more and begin meditation. This ability is allowed multiple uses per day (after returning to true neutral), eventually allowing 5 Alignment shifts at 10th level.
Iron Will: At 3rd level the Concessionist gains Iron will as a feat
Ki Strike: At 5th level, the Concessionist can imbue the current weapon he is wielding to his current alignment. However, he may only choose one attribute at a time, such as imbuing a weapon with Lawful AND Good.
Protect from Chaos/Evil/Good/Law: A concessionist gains this as a spell like ability for use 3 times per day. He may choose any 3 alignments, however, like Sense, this ability disallows a Concessionist to remain Neutral in the row or column he is attempting to cast against.
Sense Alignment: At 6th level a Concessionist may use one of the following spells per day, Detect Evil, Detect Good, Detect Lawful and Detect Chaotic. However, he is restricted from casting a Detect for the desired alignment if he is currently Neutral in that row or column.
Mantle of Aligned: As Mantle of Good, or Mantle of Evil. Either one of these spells can be chosen 3 times a day, allowing a SR of 12 + Concessionist level.
Smite Chaos/Evil/Good/Law: Once per day, the concessionist is allowed to smite a desired alignment with one normal melee attack. He adds his Wisdom bonus to his attack rolls and deals 1 extra point of damage per Concessionist level. If the Concessionist smites a creature that is not of the desired alignment the Smite has no effect, but the ability is used that day.

Betray Motives: If a concessionist makes an alignment shift without the use of the Augment alignment special ability, is stripped of all spells and abilities. This also denies the progression of any levels in this class. He regains these abilities not after atoning to a diety, but only after intense meditation of one full day and an experience penalty of 500 xp per Concessionist class level. After meditation is complete, the Concessionist regains his lost abilities and spells, also opening potential for progression in the class.

Um... alignment comes from the character and there is no real "in-character" motivation I can see for wanting to change alignment on a daily basis.

Seems highly metagame-ish to me.

Oh, and am I the only one who thinks "Hot dog stand!" when I hear the word concession? :P

Actually I thought of Lemonade and Pretzels but Hot Dogs works too.

If you ever saw the Waterdeep 2ed Vendors, you'd be afraid, very afraid.

Quite frankly, I think Characters can figure out their alignment. It's really simple actually...

You can say that, but it feels like you're just rationalizing a metagame-ish topic. I'll agree to disagree though; to each their own. :)

This is extremely interesting. To rationalize this think about it this way. Your character does a ritual, that bends his normal personality. Although, I see little reason why a now chaotic evil or lawfull neutral (etc) character would be interested in changing his alignment back once he has given into these new desires. Perhaps the ability simply ends after 24 hours, reverting the character to TN? It could be quite the character, you turn your alignment NE to use an ancient evil artifact, for the rest of the day you go around doing horrible acts. Then you wake up in the morning, completely bewildered by what you did. Like a night of bad drinking.

Yes, I've thought of something like this. Perhaps I did not state this, but the character background is hardly set in stone. I simply drew up a prestige class for an idea I believed to be unique.

Transforming into a different personality, to only wake up 24 hours later unaware of the past actions at true neutral could offer very interesting roleplaying. A simpler desire for a character to go back to true neutral could always be the need to change his alignment once more for a different situation. However this is full of conflicts, and honestly I am intrigued by your idea.

Thanks for th feedback :D
