Hey folks.

After surfing through a copy of Complete Champion, I thought that it would be fun and flavorful to pay a Divine Crusader (Complete Divine), with the corresponding Domain feat and everything.

So, while looking over the class, I realized something that the rest of you probably noticed a long while ago. The class state no CL for its spells! Even the example character does not have a caster level. So I downloaded the errata, hoping that it might be there, too. No go.

Normally, I would assume that the CL would be equal to the Divine Crusader level, as it would make the most sense. But the 9th level spells there are throwing me off. I think, "Wouldn't some high-level domain spells be ineffective at only CL10?" Although CL = Double class level seems a little weird, it doesn't sound too outrageous (until you get into epics, but let's not go there).

I know, a long post for a simple question. But could anyone please help me out on this? What is the CL for the Divine Crusader?

Thank you for any answers!

i think it would go like any multi-class caster.

first level Divine Crusader is CL 1, although you could take Practiced Spellcaster to close the gap a bit. level 20 with CL 14 is pretty sad.

i think it's a better deal to just go Favored Soul. Use teh FS of bahamut from races of the dragon to get Epic DR at lvl 20.

I have little doubt the caster level goes up by 1 each level...which is a bit unfortunate if you get something like Holy Word. Anything better than that would be too much of an exception *not* to mention, but it'd be pretty easy to forget plain old +1/level.

You might also consider the Partisan from my sig. I personally found the idea of the Divine Crusader good, but the execution lackluster, and that played a role in deciding to make the new class. It was designed as my idea of a base class with domain-based spellcasting, similar to a Divine Crusader. I've made a whole bunch of new feats for the class which aren't on the boards yet, but the class itself is essentially unchanged since I posted it. (The only change is that they can select appropriate Domain feats as bonus feats, in addition to the other options listed.)

I'm playing a 6th level Partisan at the moment in a game, thus far without problems.

Anyway, please forgive the self-promotion.
