| Aleolus01-26-08, 11:38 AM | OK, this is something I came up with last night, and a friend of mine edited it somewhat. I thought to myself how Power Attack, Cleave and Great Cleave are all pretty much iconographic feats of the melee fighter, and wanted to come up with a PrC to improve upon them. So, here it is, what do you all think? The Empowered Warrior Prerequisites Str 15 Feats: Power Attack, Cleave, Great Cleave BAB: +12 Special: Must be proficient with at least one martial weapon Level BAB Fort Ref Will Special 1 +1 +2 +0 +0 Empowered Attack 2 +2 +3 +0 +0 Bonus Feat 3 +3 +3 +1 +0 Flowing Cleave 4 +4 +4 +1 +0 Bonus Feat 5 +5 +4 +1 +0 Unstoppable Cleave Weapon and Armor proficiencies: An Empowered Warrior gains no new weapon or armor proficiencies. Empowered Attack (Ex): Beginning at first level, you learn how to utilize your Power Attack feat to greater effect. When making use of your Power Attack feat, the first point of your Base Attack Bonus taken out deals an extra 1d6 damage, rather than a single point. Every time you gain a level of Empowered Warrior, you apply this to another point taken off your Base Attack Bonus when Power Attacking. For instance, if Redgard, a 12 fighter/3 Empowered Warrior, makes a melee attack, and takes off 5 points of his Base Attack Bonus, rather than adding five points of damage, he instead adds 3d6+2 damage to his damage dealt. Bonus Feat: At second level, and again at fourth level, you gain a bonus feat. This feat must be either a Fighter Bonus Feat, or have Power Attack as a listed Prerequisite. Flowing Cleave (Ex): Beginning at third level, you become more adept at cleaving through your foes. Anytime you are allowed an additional attack from your Great Cleave feat, you may take a 5 foot step before your attack. Unstoppable Cleave (Ex): Your abilities when cleaving through foes is unmatched. If you are cleaving through a group of foes, and fail to drop one target, you may make one additional attack as though you had dropped him. If this attack drops the new target, you may continue to Cleave as before, otherwise this ends your attack. |
| LunarWolfPrime01-26-08, 07:30 PM | :OMG! :looloo:  :fight!: :ghosted: I love this. One thing though you are nut's dude. |
| Neraagile01-27-08, 01:49 AM | Sorry, but one word. Overpowered, unless there is anything that gives this PrC some manner of Penalty, Shooktropper/Leap Attack Fighters don't need any more excuses to severly hurt (kill) things with one attack. |
| Neraagile01-27-08, 09:57 AM | But I really like the Idear of the Overpowered Attack (can I make a prestige Class with it pretty please? You'll be the first to see it when its finished) |
| Aleolus01-27-08, 12:27 PM | But I really like the Idear of the Overpowered Attack (can I make a prestige Class with it pretty please? You'll be the first to see it when its finished) Go right ahead, just PM me the link when you finish it. My idea with this was to create a fighter PrC that would let Fighters dish out damage more equivilent to that of the high level mages, while being able to harm lots of things at once, rather than just one at a time (hence the Flowing Cleave and Unstoppable Cleave) |
| Neraagile01-27-08, 08:00 PM | Thank you, I'll just put it here (because its not fully done yet :P, need to add the flavor and stuff before I actually post it) |
| Neraagile01-27-08, 08:45 PM | okay here goes... (I apolegise for the poor Table/Coding I'm rather new at this :P) Embodiment of Bloodshed (Trying to get a more Neutral-ish name for him) Hit Dice: d12 Requirements Alginment: Chaotic Neutral Base Attack Bonus: +8 Feats: Melee Weapon Mastery, Weapon Specialization, Power Attack, Weapon Focus Special: Must spend the night in the Ruins of Strife, if the spirits find the subject worthy, he will wake with the knowledge to complete the Ancient Ritual of Bloodshed. (this involves forsaking all previous spellcasting, psionic and meldshaping abilities, if any.) Level BAB Fort Ref Will Special 1 +1 +2 +0 +0 Flesh of Steel, Paragon of War 2 +2 +3 +0 +0 3 +3 +3 +1 +1 Overpowering Attack +1d6 4 +4 +4 +1 +1 Paragon of War, Unnatural Drive 5 +5 +4 +1 +1 Flesh of Steel 6 +6 +5 +2 +2 Overpowering Attack +2d6 7 +7 +5 +2 +2 Paragon of War, Dampening Runes 8 +8 +6 +2 +2 9 +9 +6 +3 +3 Eternal Body, Overpowering Attack +3d6 10 +10 +7 +3 +3 Flesh of Steel, Paragon of War, War Leviathan Flesh of Steel (Ex): Upon beginning the path of an Embodiment of Bloodshed, your skin begins to harden, become thicker and take on a slight metallic hue. You may no longer wear any armor (though you still may use shields), and gains a +1 Natural armor bonus. This bonus increases to +2 at fifth level, and to +3 at 10th level. Also at first level, you gain a +4 exalted bonus to your AC. This bonus increases to +5 at 5th level, and +6 at 10th level. Finally, at first level, you gain DR 1/-. This increases to 2/- at fifth level, and 3/- at 10th level, and this DR stacks with any similar DR you already possess. Paragon of War: Upon adopting the Embodiment of Bloodshed class, a character gains a permanent +4 bonus to Strength and his Charisma is permanently reduced by 2. At 4th level, the bonus given to Strength increases to +6 and the Charisma penalty increases to -4, and he gains a permanent +2 bonus to Constitution, and his Intelligence is reduced by 2 points. At 7th level, the bonus granted to their Strength and Constitution scores increase by 2, and their Charisma is further reduced by 2 points (to a minimum of 1). At tenth level, the bonuses given to their Strength and Constitution scores both increase by 2, and their Int is reduced by another 2 points (minimum of 1). Many who embody bloodshed loose themselves to their innate bloodlust. Overpowering Attack (Ex): Starting at 3rd level whenever the Embodiment of Bloodshed uses his Power Attack feat, and takes a penalty on a melee attack roll of at least -3, he can add 1d6 points of damage instead of +3 to his damage rolls, at 6th level whenever he takes a penalty on a melee attack roll greater than -6 he adds an additional 2d6 points of damage instead of +6 to his damage rolls, and again on 9th level he can take a -9 penalty to add 3d6 points of damage to his melee attack roll instead of +9, higher penalties result in the normal damage addition, thus a 6th level Embodiment of Bloodshed who takes a -8 penalty on his melee attack roll adds 2d6+2 points of damage to his damage rolls. Unnatural Drive (Ex): At 4th level, and higher, when the Embodiment of Bloodshed's hit point drop below one half his hit point total he adds ½ his class level to his damage rolls. On 10th level he adds his full class level instead. Dampening Runes: At 7th level, an Embodiment of Bloodshed gains spell resistance equal to his class level + 15. Eternal Body (Ex): After achieving 9th level, an Embodiment of Bloodshed no longer suffers ability penalties for aging and cannot be magically aged. (Penalties he has already suffered remain in place) Bonuses still accrue, and the Embodiment of Bloodshed still die of old age when his time is up. War Leviathan (Ex): At 10th level the completes his transformation into the ultimate paragon of war and bloodshed. His type is changed to Outsider, with the Native subtype. In addition, upon reaching 10th level, an Embodiment of Bloodshed is treated as one size category larger than he actually is, whenever being larger would prove beneficial. Multiclass Note: An Embodiment of Bloodshed who cease to to Chaotic Neutral cannot gain new levels as an Embodiment of Bloodshed and looses all Supernatural Abilities (though he retains all the Extraordenary ones). Like a member of any prestige class, an Embodiment of Bloodshed can take levels in other classes after entering the Embodiment of Bloodshed class, but Embodiments of Bloodshed face a special restriction. An Embodiment of Bloodshed who gains a level in any other class after having gained his first Embodiment of Bloodshed level can never again raise his Embodiment of Bloodshed level, though he retains the Embodiment of Bloodshed abilities he has already earned. |
| Maat_Mons01-27-08, 08:58 PM | How do empowered attack and overpowering attack work with two-handed weapons? |
| Neraagile01-27-08, 09:10 PM | well with my variant of it it states that you can "trade" in a +3 bonus to damage rolls (as long as you take a penalty of at least -3) for a d6, don't know about Aleous' ( but doesn't make it less broken xD) |
| Aleolus01-27-08, 09:12 PM | Looks good. Aside from some rewording, I would just make it so that all of their abilities are Extraordinary. Su abilities can be suppressed while in an AMF, and typically stuff like you have this class getting is always on, not affected by anything. Here's how I would write it. Flesh of Steel (Ex): Upon beginning the path of an Embodiment of Bloodshed, your skin begins to harden, become thicker and take on a slight metallic hue. You may no longer wear any armor (though you still may use shields), and gains a +1 Natural armor bonus. This bonus increases to +2 at fifth level, and to +3 at 10th level. | Neraagile01-27-08, 09:16 PM | thank you I'm terrible at wording :P (also you forgot Flesh of Steels DR, and none of the bonuses are Enchantment bonuses, they are permanent. If they were Enchantment Bonuses they would be overwrite (like) a Belt of Giant Strength) |
| Aleolus01-27-08, 09:19 PM | well with my variant of it it states that you can "trade" in a +3 bonus to damage rolls (as long as you take a penalty of at least -3) for a d6, don't know about Aleous' ( but doesn't make it less broken xD) I'll explain how I saw it working by way of example, that will be easiest. If Tordek, a 12th level fighter, with 1 level of Empowered Warrior, were to Power Attack out his attack (take a -5 penalty to his attack roll), instead of dealing +5 damage, he would deal 1d6+4 extra damage. If Redgard, a 12th level fighter with 3 levels of Empowered Warrior, were to Power Attack out an attack, instead of dealing +5 damage, he would deal 3d6+2 extra damage. Does that clear up how I saw it working? When you Power Attack, a number of points PA would deal as damage are instead converted to d6s, with the number being equal to the level of the character (cap of 5, obviously, or 10 if using a 2-handed weapon) |
| Maat_Mons01-27-08, 09:54 PM | Well, sticking with examples: If Tordek, a 12th level fighter wielding a longsword, were to power attack, taking a -5 penalty to his attack roll, he would deal 5 extra damage. If Tordek, a 12th level fighter wielding a greatword, were to power attack, taking a -5 penalty to his attack roll, he would deal 10 extra damage. With a two-handed weapon, power attack normally gives you 2 extra points of damage for every -1 you take to hit. Does empowered attack just provide less of a relative improvement for two-weapon fighters, or could they get 1d6+1 damage for a -1 penalty to hit? |

Does empowered attack just provide less of a relative improvement for two-weapon fighters, or could they get 1d6+1 damage for a -1 penalty to hit? Well in my case Tordek (who takes a -5 penalty on attack rolls and has Overpowering Attack +1d6) trades 3 points of his damage bonus, and instead gets adds +1d6+7 on his damage rolls ... he cannot however take another -3 penalty on his damage roll (if he has Overpowering Attack +2d6) before he's taken a penalty of at least -6. Btw Aleous a very good reason why your version of Overpowering Attack is very very broken... you trade a +1 bonus for a +1d6, now a d6 has an average roll of 3.5 so effectively your multiplying the Empowered Warrior class level by 3.5 (because anyone would want do deal an average of 3.5 instead of 1 for a penalty of 5) on each attack, meaning +17.5 extra damage... now given that this would cause EXTREME synergy between the Shooktrooper/Leap Attac Fighter who now would be dealing (times two for leap attack and could replace the attack roll penalty with AC penalty when charging) an average level 8 Fighter/5 Empowered Warrior would be able to deal an average of 7 damage (3.5 multiplied by 2) for the cost of -1 AC ... now giving himself a say -10 penalty to his AC this fella would be able to deal (with a longsword, not taking into account Strength bonus or any enchantments) 1d8+10d6+10 (Overpowering Attack doubled by Leap Attack). And given the rest of the abilties he can quite honestly probably do in a whole group of monster just by doing this trick.... Charge in splatter one poor sod, cleave, splattering the next one, cleave, not splattered ... oh, well, cleave anywho, splattering another one. |
| Maat_Mons01-28-08, 09:09 AM | Alright, so it’s more like reducing your bonus damage and adding extra damage dice and less like replacing the effect of power attack for certain points of trade-out. Aleolus, is that the same for your version? I’m having a bit of trouble seeing where you come up with a cap of 10d6 for a two-handed weapon. |
| Aleolus01-28-08, 10:34 AM | Well, I hadn't decided how 2-handed weapons would work yet, although I was figuring on xd6+x. |
| Neraagile01-29-08, 08:46 AM | Heres the link for the final product... quite different than what I posted here, I had a revelation ;) ... but still cool (IMO) Bloodfueled Titan (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=984608) |
