God Hunter / An anti-divine warrior who challenges deities and higher extraplanar beings to battle.
Requirements;
- Base Attack Bonus; +7.
- Languages;Celestial, Infernal, Abyssal
- Feats; Power Attack, Endurance, Toughness
- Must have interacted with a deity or higher extraplanar being once in their life.
- Must not have an allegiance toward any deity.
Hit Die; d12.
Skill Points at Level; 2 + Int Modifier
Weapon And Armor Proficiency; The character gains proficiency to all martial weapons and all light armor if they did not have those proficiencies already.
Class Skills; The god hunter's class skills include Appraise (Int), Climb (Str), Decipher Script (Int), Disguise (Cha), Escape Artist (Dex) Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Spellcraft (Int), Survival (Con)

Level Base Attack Bonus Fort Save Ref Save Will Save Special
1st +1 +2 +2 +2 Damage reduction 1/-
2nd +2 +3 +3 +3 Smite infidel 1/day
3rd +3 +3 +3 +3 Ability boost; +2 Str
4th +4 +4 +4 +4 Damage reduction 3/-
5th +5 +4 +4 +4 Diehard
6th +6 +5 +5 +5 Ability boost; +2 Con
7th +7 +5 +5 +5 Damage reduction 5/-
8th +8 +6 +6 +6 Smite infidel 2/day
9th +9 +6 +6 +6 Ability boost; +2 Cha
10th +10 +7 +7 +7 Damage reduction 7/-

Damage Reduction (Ex); The god hunter's training makes him thick-skinned and resilient. At 1st level, the god hunter gains damage reduction. Subtract 1 from the damage the god hunter takes each time he is dealt damage from a weapon or a natural attack. Damage reduction can reduce damage to 0 but not below 0. At 4th level, and every three god hunter levels thereafter (7th and 10th level), this damage reduction rises by 2 points. Damage reduction can reduce damage to 0 but not below 0. If the character is granted damage reduction from a different source (like barbarian levels), the effects stack.

Smite Infidel (Su); At 2nd level, the god hunter may smite a creature of the exact opposite alignment once per day (In the case of nuetral characters, they must choose to be able to smite either lawful good, chaotic evil, lawful evil, or chaotic good creatures). Smiting a creature is done by simply performing a normal melee attack. The god hunter adds his Charisma modifier (if positive) to his attack roll and deals 1 extra point of damage per class level. If a god hunter accidentally smites a creature not of his opposite alignment, the smite has no effect but it is still used up for the day. At his 8th level, the god hunter is allowed to smite infidel one additional time per day.

Diehard; At level 5, the god hunter gains the benefits of the Diehard feat.

Ability Boosts; At level 3, 6, and 9, the god hunter earns ability boosts. These bonuses stack and are gained as if through level achievement.

Ex-God Hunters; When a god hunter decides to give patronage to a deity, he becomes an ex-god hunter. Ex-god hunters do not benefit from the smite infidel special ability and they cannot gain anymore levels in the god hunter prestige class (even if they meet all requirements for the class by dropping their allegiance). However, the ex-god hunter keeps his levels and any other special abilities or bonuses he may have gained as a god hunter.

EDIT: I added in a new section on "ex-god hunters".

I suggest making ut an epic level class. Smiteing gods or higher extraplanar being screams epic level.

I have to agree with Aerodyth, this PrC screams Epic Level. I like the idea behind it though, and I would love to read more of the fluff on it.

Below is my personal PEACH, if your sensitive I suggest NOT reading this. I am being true to the acronym and giving you my honest opinions.

First thing I need to point out is that your formatting is off, badly. Your table is spaced HUGE. Just reading your prerequisites gave me a bit of a headache. You need serious help here. Call this a shameless plug or whatever but here is a LINK (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?p=14708508#post14708508) to two PrC formats that I find work great. All you have to do is fill in the blanks and answer a few of the questions.

Now on to your prerequisites:
Requirements;
- Base Attack Bonus; +7.
- Languages;Celestial, Infernal, Abyssal
- Feats; Power Attack, Endurance, Toughness
- Must have interacted with a deity or higher extraplanar being once in their life.
- Must not have an allegiance toward any deity.
What primary base class' will take this PrC? If it is for heavy melee types than you might consider limiting the language requirement to just one of the three languages presented here.
The BAB requirement is good, the class is quite powerful, and so a +7 reflects that well.
The feats don't completely make sense to me, as it stands any Tom, Dink, or Harry human fighter could (excluding the BAB requirement) qualify by level 1. How do the feats make the class special? Can anybody at all become a God Hunter, or does it take a very special and focused individual? IMO you could easily drop these and lose nothing.
Have you considered skill rank requirements? I would imagine that members of this PrC have serious beef with immortals. Ranks in Knowledge (Religion) would emphasize that you know your foe, as would Knowledge (The Planes) for those who hate all outsiders.
Your other requirements are good. I beat God Of War and was surprised you did not include some sort of 'Divine Betrayal'. I imagine a low level paladin being betrayed by his clergy and abandoned by his god turning his shock and pain into seething hatred for that god and all it represents. You should consider putting some sort of special requirement in regarding the reason they loath and hunt immortals. This should be something huge, mind you, and likely alignment changing (to better smite those who serve your betrayer:evillaugh).
--
Another thing I noticed is you gave it a d12 HD+Good BAB+ALL Good Saves= A little bit over powered. If you want this to be an epic PrC, then I guess this is okay (but I suggest getting some advice from the folks over on the Epic Boards. If this is meant to be a PrC mid-level characters can take than my advice is to tone down either the BAB or the saves.

2. (GOD HUNTER)Class Skills; The god hunter's class skills include Appraise (Int), Climb (Str), Decipher Script (Int), Disguise (Cha), Escape Artist (Dex) Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Spellcraft (Int), Survival (Con)

This list makes absolutely no sense. What does a warrior focused on killing gods/extraplanar beings need with Appraise or Spellcraft? Also why doesn't the class have Knowledge (Religion) or Knowledge (The Planes)?

IMHO, the skill list should go something like this if you want the class to be mostly combat focused:
CLASS SKILLS
The god hunter's class skills (and the key ability modifier for each skill) are: Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Gather Information (Cha), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Knowledge (Religion) (Int), Knowledge (The Planes) (Int), Ride (Dex), Spellcraft (Int), Spot (Wis), Survival (Con), and Use Magic Device (Cha).

Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int Modifier

If you are going for a more stealthy and manipulative God Hunter you might consider this set:
CLASS SKILLS
The god hunter's class skills (and the key ability modifier for each skill) are: Balance (Dex), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Decipher Script (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Disguise (Cha), Gather Information (Cha), Hide (Dex), Jump (Str), Knowledge (Religion) (Int), Knowledge (The Planes) (Int), Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Sense Motive (Wis), Spellcraft (Int), Spot (Wis), and Use Magic Device (Cha).

Skill Points at Each Level: 4 + Int Modifier

These are both just suggestions, so feel free to modify them as you see fit.

Now on to the class abilities :whatsthis :

Wow, thats quite a 1st level ability. Why does this class gain DR? Is this meant to apply only to attacks from Outsiders? Or is it as written and applies to everything? As written this ability is awfully powerful. Compare this to a barbarians DR over 20 levels, which tops out at 5/- at 19th level. You might want to tone it down a little, or specify that it only works under certain conditions.

This ability is neat, but it needs a little work. Compared to the Paladins Smite ability it is pretty weak, and I don't think that is what you want. The paladin is able to use this ability 4/day at 17th level (equal to 7 levels 'other' and 10 levels of god hunter), and on top of the cha bonus they also gets one extra point of damage per paladin level and they cast spells.
The way it is written here at 17th level you get to smite 2/day with a nominal bonus to damage for having a high charisma.

Diehard; At level 5, the god hunter gains the benefits of the Diehard feat.First off, why? This feat has almost nothing to do with hunting down and killing gods/celestials/demons,devils/outsiders. Also at this level (minimum of 12th level) players are dealing and receiving high enough damage to make this feat almost useless. IMO you should change this out for something more appropriate to a hunter of gods.

Ability Boosts; At level 3, 6, and 9, the god hunter earns ability boosts. These bonuses stack and are gained as if through level achievement.I like the idea, but once again I have to ask: why? Why does the god hunter grow stronger over time? Is it from basically bathing in the blood of angels and/or devils on a semi regular basis? Why do they gain 2 points instead of a much more reasonable 1 point (unless this is meant to be epic)? Why does it have to be Str, Con, and Cha? What about non-strength based melee characters such as the Monk, Swashbuckler, finesse fighter? What purpose do these ability boosts serve, other than big stat boosts every 3 levels?

The stat boosts need to be explained better. As it stands now they look like they were just thrown in randomly. If you can't think of a good in-game reason for the stats to go up than you should take them out and put something more appropriate in.

Overall I like the concept, god killers are just so unappreciated these days. Your execution does leave something to be desired, as it doesn't look like the class was very well thought out ahead of time. Thats alright though, since this is why we have the boards and PEACHing. Good job nonetheless, and I hope my peaching comes in handy.

This class gave me all sorts of ideas for some cool abilities god hunters could gain, but I think this is enough for now. Feel free to PM me if there is anything I could help you with, or if you just want to tell me how much of an :censored: I am for ripping into our class.
I apologize if this was a little brutal, but so was mine when I first started making PrCs.;)

I don't think there is much of a need to make this thing epic.

The legendary dreadnaught is very much (ImO) superior.

In addition, this thing doesn't really have much of a chance against gods (except for maybe quasi-dieties or incredibly low-level demigods).

I find it a bit strange that this thing is somewhat devoid of abilities. You have one thing to strike down infedels but everything else is just making you more resilient rather than making you capable of hunting or killing gods.

Where is the spell resistance against divine spells?
Where is the aura that annuls the deity's divine realm?
Where is anything that could help a character fight a god in a practical manner?

That's because that's epic and the concept of deity-slaying would be more appropriate for epic levels due to the world shattering impact it has. I do agree it needs more anti-outsider/deity flavor to it and behind its abilities. The bathing in blood flavor Thelonious came up with is similar to the Leviathan Hunter from Shipwreck. It would be akin to...

"Whenever you slay a powerful being of deific power or one of their servants, you bath and partake of their blood, growing even stronger." Whenever you personally slay one of them (you must deal the lethal blow and dealt more than half the damage it took) you may use a special ritual taking so much XP to increase one of your stats by 1 so long they were at least of X CR in relation to you. {Just an idea}

Also allow spellcasters and less martial characters take levels of it.

I have to pretty much agree with everyone here. This class does not seem to be able to stand up to a god in the slightest.

I suggest you look at the legendary dreadnought (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/prestigeClasses/legendaryDreadnought.htm).

I think it'd be good to look at some of the abilities that the Mortal Hunter has from Book of Vile Darkness.

A couple of ideas that I have have that I think would be nice for this class would be:

1) Create a type of tracking based off of Epic tracking (maybe even include it in the feat requirements since, you know... you have to find the god in order to kill it)

2) Give the class a feature that will reflect the gods damaging ability back at him, otherwise your never going to get close enough when they can snipe you from across the continent (Have the ability be like a contingent spell that triggers upon being attacked by the god but it only works after you've extensively studied what the god can and cant do in a massive or hidden library, maybe off a old book that you found while adventuring).

3) The Skin of the Divine - After slaying a god, you are able to skin it and use x number of powers for x amount of time. This could be insanely powerful, but it could be balanced if you add in a line that says that the skins abilities can only be used on another divine being. That'd make it easier for you not to destroy the world with carelessness.

4) Because of how hard-core this class can be, you should make sure that you can only level up if you've killed a god in your current level. Their knowledge would spill into you and give you the things neccesary in order to level.

5) Give them a way to bypass their immunities, damage reduction and regeneration. Possibly making any weapon that hold have the exact properties that it needs in order to bypass their defenses (most likely epic or something).

6) You'll obviously have to have some cool abilities of your own, so maybe give them fly, plane shift, temperature adjusting at will (don't want them frying if they go to somewhere inhospitable).

7) Give them an aura that grows in strength every time you level up (since in order to level, you have to kill a god). Probably one that's evil and does something nasty to divine beings. (Aura of terror, death & decay.. something like that)

Ed: for the bypassing of DR, treat all weapons weilded against deities and outsiders as having the Shadowstriking ability from ToM, after one hit, the weapon adjusts I believe, may not even require the first hit.

Additionally, this class should also take abominations (deific offspring ones) into account as they posess near divinity as do several other abominations.

I've been trying to think of new abilities and haven't had any ideas about it right now. Maybe some will come to me later.

I think I just heard a squish noise. Even at Epic level a god will still tear you up, because gods are lvl 40 minimum. I made a God-slayer PrC for Arcane casters gives them alot of bonuses to spell penetration against Divine casters and Divine beings.

We'd have to come up with some way to negate the gods powers while up close though because your right, you'll still get torn up like nothing.

Flat out a mortal can not negate a gods power. Even my God Slayer PrC would still need alot of back up just to beat an actual god, and even than I'd be surprised if I came out on top. I'd than look at the DM and ask "What is wrong with you is your heart just not in the game anymore to let me win like that?" although I do think it could beat avatars since avatars don't actually wield all of the gods powers.

To be honest a god isn't something you beat though.

gods are beaten in fantasy novels all the time. It's pretty much common place by now.

Anyways. I had a good idea while looking at another book tonight at my friends house.

As Red-Wizards_Rock said, the negation power is too powerful. So... how about this?

8) The god hunter cannot be scryed upon, searched for, spotted, magically looked at (that means immune to true seeing) or any other way of the god looking at your character. Now, this is powerful but it won't stop the god knowing about your coming his way. The god still has workers that can scout for him and what not, so it's not too broken. He just can't use his line abilities on you until your up close and personal. I would place this as a higher level ability. Maybe 9th or 10th.

You could also give a lesser version at a lower level that blocks any non-deity divination (divine spells only). The smite should be able to target any being that is a deity (or close to) or serves one (their clerics, paladins, champions, chosen...)

My Divine Emissary would have fun hunting these guys down...

Still an interesting idea; it'd be great as a Ranger PrC, certainly.

My Divine Emissary would have fun hunting these guys down...

... and they would have fun hunting you down as well. The easiest way to aggravate a deity is to kill off its powerful mortal servants.
