In my current game I'm running, I have a Changling Cleric of the Traveler pretending to be a Cleric of the Soverighn Host. This led me to be inspired to create this PrC.

Pious Pretender

Some clerics of the Traveler delight in infiltrating other religions to learn their secrets, subvert their followers, or to just cause chaos and havoc. To this end, certain favored servants of the traveler are granted abilities to better mimic the abilities of other clerics and to pass more easily as one.

Entrance Requirements
Skills- Bluff 8 ranks, Disguise 8 ranks, Knowledge (Religion) 8 ranks
Spellcasting- Must be able to cast 3rd level Divine spells, must be able to cast Undetectable Alighnment as a Divine spell.
Special- Must have the Traveler as your patron diety. (Substitute for another suitible diety in settings other than Eberron)

Hit Dice - d8
Skill Points per Level - 4 + Int modifier
Class Skills - Bluff, Concentration, Craft, Diplomacy, Disguise, Forgery, Heal, Knowledge (Arcana), Knowledge (The Planes), Knowledge (Religion), Knowledge (History), Proffesion, Sense Motive and Spellcraft

The Pious Pretender

9th +6 +2 +2 +6 Mastery of Deception +3 +1 Level of Existing Divine Spellcasting Class
10th +7 +3 +3 +7 Perfect Deception -------

Expanded Spell List (Ex) - Add the following spells to your divine spellcasting class list at the listed level. If you had more than one divine spellcasting class before becoming a pious pretender, choose one class list to add the spells to.
1st- Disguise Self, Silent Image, Nystul's Magic Aura
2nd- Minor Image, Misdirection
3rd- Major Image
4th- Illusory Wall
5th- Persistant Image, Seeming
6th- Permanent Image, Programmed Image
7th- Mislead, Veil
8th- Screen

Fickle Focus (Ex) - A pious pretender can use the holy symbol (or unholy symbol) of any diety as his divine focus for any spell he casts.

Fickle Alignment (Su) - Begining at 3rd level, a pious pretender's can alter how his alignment registers on detection spells such as Detect Evil. When a pious pretender prays to regain spells, he can choose which alignment to detect as for all purposes. He no longer detects as his origional alignment. If a pious pretender had an aura of good or similar aura, he loses it on attaining 3rd level as a pious pretender. This ability has no effect on his actual alignment, so an evil pious pretender is still vulnerable to a paladin's smite evil, for example.

Mastery of Deception (Ex) - At 4th level a pious pretender begins to master the use of lies and illusions, adding a +1 bonus to the save DCs of any illusion spell he casts and a +1 bonus on Bluff and Disguise checks. The pious pretender continues to master his craft as he levels, increasing these bonuses to +2 at 6th level and to +3 at 9th level.

Fickle Faith (Ex) - Begining at 5th level, a pious pretender can alter his ability to turn or rebuke undead and his ability to spontaneously cast cure or inflict spells. Each day, when the pious pretender prays to regain spells, he can choose to change his ability to turn or rebuke undead for the rest of the day. If the pious pretender chooses to switch his turning or rebuking ability, his ability to spontaneously cast cure or inflict spells changes acordingly.

Fickle Domain (Ex) - At 7th level, a pious pretender is granted the use of spells beyond his diety's normal portfolio. Each day, when the pious pretender prays to regain spells, he can select any one domain to gain as a bonus domain until he prays to regain spells again. If a domain gained this way grants bonus feats they can not be used to qualify for the prerequisites of a feat or class.

Silver-Tongued Trickster (Su) - Begining at 8th level, a pious pretender can no longer be magicly forced to speak the truth and his lies cannot be magicly detected as lies. He can still be detected as lying through non magical means, such as use of the Sense Motive skill.

Perfect Deception (Ex) - At 10th level, a pious pretender masters the art of using illusion to the point of being undetectable by even the strongest magic. Spells that detect magic no longer detect his illusion spells. True Seeing no longer pierces his illusions.

So, what do you think? I think the entrance requirements might not be stiff enough, but since you either have to multiclass to rogue or bard to get Bluff and Disguise as class skills or take the Trickery domain, it might be all I need.

Might want to expand this to other deities (see my thread about a cleric of Olidammara). Overall, it seems like a great idea. BTW - what the hell does PEACH mean?

Please Examine And Critique Honestly

I'm guilty of using it, too. It's basically a nice way of saying, "Rewrite And Playtest Everything."

Looks pretty cool, I definately like the idea. Maybe ad Skill Focus [Bluff] as a requirement. Larger, more powerful (or just paranoid) churches tend to have people withing the church dedicated to finding and exterminating people like this. Having the extra edge in bluffing could prove invaluble when an inquisitor is holding a sword to your throat.

So... any hit dice? Skill points per level? Class skills?

Overall, I like it. I think it's probably marginally less powerful than sticking to straight cleric, with the loss of three caster levels, but it's certainly very flavorful and flexible, with the fickle domain and other interesting, powerful abilities.

One thing -- the saves. I think that you should alter the fortitude and reflex saves a bit, so that they end up at +3 rather than +4, since the standard save progressions in D&D are either 1/3rd level or 2 + 1/2 level.

So, the reflex save would be something like:

1. +0
2. +0
3. +1
4. +1
5. +1
6. +2
7. +2
8. +2
9. +3
10. +3

Thanks.

Im still debating if I should add a feat to the entrance requirements. I'm think either decietful, or ,as Omadon suggested, Skill Focus(Bluff), but Im wondering if its neccasary. The class is only 7/10 spellcasting, so someone taking this could barely get 9th level casting.
