| Savras10-06-07, 01:15 PM | Goodness me, it is the first time I use PEACH... This is a PrC I and a player of mine developed. I wonder if it is balanced, and if I can add some Initiator levels to it. Pray, feel free to respond. Shock Trooper Elite soldiers, the shock troopers operate behind enemy lines, using swift approach, devastating attacks and hasty retreats to wreak havoc upon the enemy. Usually trained by armies to serve in commando units, veterans of such units sometimes work alone, or as part of small teams, lending their considerable skills to the adventuring world. Their power derives from four main sources – their speed, their combat ability, their strength and their mystical abilities, gained after hours and hours of training, and honed by years of combat. These abilities supplement their stealth, speed and combat, turning them into deadly enemies on the battlefield – and out of it. HD: d8 Entry Requirements: Feats:: Mobility, Spring Attack. Skills: Move Silently 10 ranks, Hide 10 ranks, Survival 6. Maneuver level: 3. Special: Sneak Attack 2d6 or skirmish (1d6, +1 AC). Initiator levels: The Shock Trooper gains further Initiator levels on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, and 10th levels. If she had more than one initiator class before joining this class that passed the entry requirment, she may choose to which class to apply this bonus. Surprising Attack: Levels in this PrC stack with Rogue levels for purposes of calculating Sneak Attack or with Scout level for purposes of calculating Skirmish bonuses, as chosen by the characte. This choice cannot be later changed. Ambush: Shock Troopers are masters using their stealth and speed to confound enemies. Whenever they get the drop on someone, the effects can be devastating: when a Shock Trooper of 1st level or more successfully attacks a flat-footed enemy after moving at least 10 feet, that target must succeed at a Will saving throw (DC=damage dealt) or be stunned for 1 round. Advantageous Positioning: Shock Troopers learn to use the terrain to their advantage, even more so then other warriors. Whenever a Shock Trooper of 2nd level or more attacks from higher ground, the bonus he gains is +3 and not +1. When his target is subject to one of the following conditions, but he is not, he gains +6 to to the attack roll (instead of the target's usual -4 to AC). The conditions are: Entangled, Prone, Squeezing through a space. This bonus is gained only on melee attacks. Meditation in Motion:[b/] When the only action a Shock Trooper does during his turn is to regain his manuevers, he may also move up to his speed. This ability is gained at the 2nd level. [b]Sneak: Shock Troopers of 3rd level learned to use their mystical abilities in new ways – once per day per class level, when they start their turn hidden from their enemies, and move at least 30 ft, they gain concealment against those enemies. This concealment only lasts for as long as the Shock Trooper moves at least 30 ft each round and is visible to the enemy. Fast Movement: As the Scout class ability. Twisted Charge: When charging, a Shock Trooper of 4th level pr above may make a number of turns (up to his Dex bonus) instead of moving in a straight line. Hard to Hold: A Shock Trooper relies on mobility to fight. At the 4th level, a Shock Trooper has learned how to defend his ability to move against those who'd try to limit it. Whenever something tries to grab the Shock Trooper, he gains an AoO against that enemy, even if the attacker has Improved Garb or Improved Grapple. First to Strike, Last to Stand: Whenever a Shock Trooper attacks an enemy that didn't act yet during this combat, he deals an extra 3d6 points of damage. These counts as Sneak Attack damage or Skirmish damage, depending upon which one was used to gain entry to this PrC, and stacks with the bonus damage gained from these sources – but is subject to their normal restrictions. This ability is gained at the 5th level. Phantom of the Operation: When a Shock Trooper of the 6th level or higher moves more than 30 ft in a given round, and ends his movement in a place he could hide in, he may make a hide check as a free action. Swiftness: As a swift action, a Shock Trooper can activate Haste upon himself. Deactivating this ability is a free action. He may use this ability a total number of rounds per day that equals to his Initiator level, but this duration can be spread across several uses. Fearsome Attack: Whenever a Shock Trooper successfully uses his First to Strike, Last to Stand ability, all enemies of the Shock Trooper within 30 ft with line of sight must attempt a Will saving throw (DC 10+half Shock Trooper level + X mod), or become frightened. If the attack dropped it's target, then failure indicates the enemy of the Shock Trooper is panicked instead. In addition, during any round a Shock Trooper inflicts Sneak Attack or Skirmish bonus damage, or uses the Sneak ability and hits with at least one attack, he may make an intimidate check as a swift action. Flawless Stride: A Shock Trooper of 9th level or higher may move normally through rough terrain. See the scour class for details. Camouflage: A Shock Trooper of the 9th level can use the surroundings to his advantage. He may make Hide checks whenever he is in a natural surrounding. Onslaught: Once per day a Shock Trooper may make a special Charge attack. Resolve this attack as if it was a normal charge, but the Shock Trooper may make a full attack at the end of the movement. Or, he may use Spring Attack and make a full attack at his target. One of the attacks he makes may be a Strike with initiation time of Standard Action. |
