| Needle03-31-07, 04:18 AM | Wayblade The Wayblade is a rare type of warrior that has mastered the ability to jump great distances. They have mastered a special type of attack that focuses the force of the leap into their attacks, able to inflict great damage to their opponents. Most Wayblades are loners who wander the lands in search of other challenges or stronger opponents. It is not unsuprising to see them travelling to towns or cities that host tournaments to test their strength against other warriors. Wayblades often gladly join adventuring parties to test their skills against greater threats, or even just for company in their wanderings. For all intents and purposes the Plunge attack is treated as a charge in regards to prequisites that apply. However the Plunge is a special jumping attack that negates all penalties for moving that are in place by jumping(such as pits or rocky ground). The Wayblade is able to jump over any enemies of medium or smaller size that are in his way as long as the square before or behind the target opponent is free. At 5th level Wayblade they may jump over large opponents as part of a Plunge attack. Charged Leap (Su) The Wayblade has mastered a special substle type of energy that enables them to jump horizontal distances with great ease. They are able to jump any horizontal distance up to their movement as long as is is within range of a charge, or half this vertically. They are able to jump horizontally up to their base speed with no running start (and half as much vertically). At 3rd level and every two levels therafter, they gain the listed bonus to their jumping distance (this bonus applies to both horizontal and vertical at no penalty). The Way[ex] The Wayblade is a master of their chosen weapon, and gains a bonus to all Attack rolls with the chosen weapon when making a Plunge attack. For every 1 bonus granted, they gain a 1d6 piercing or slashing damage bonus to the attack. Plunge Defence [Ex] At 5th level, The Wayblade gains the listed dodge bonus to his or her AC on a Plunge attack for the round they make the attack. Blade Art [Su] The masters of the way of the blade are said to possess a special blend of magic that enables them to empower their blades when making a Plunge attack. Each Wayblade is able to call out a special technique that is unique to them during a plunge attack. Upon use of this technique the Wayblade must wait for 1d4 minutes to gather the nessacary energies before using the technique again. Such masters of the way of the blade are rare and legendary even amongst themselves. Upon attaining 10th level the Wayblade must choose their special technique from the following: Cool Wind: Upon making the Plunge attack the Wayblades sword is covered in a soft faintly glowing wind, if the attack successfully deals damage to the enemy, the Wayblade is healed for 5d6 + the Wayblades level. Rayblade The Wayblades sword glows with a blinding light. If the Plunge attack deals damage to the enemy they must make a fortitude save vs 10+ the Wayblades level + his Dexterity or Strength modifier (whichever is highest) or be blinded for a number of rounds equal to the Wayblades level, additionally they take an extra 1d6 fire damage. if the subject of the attack has light sensetivity add 4 to the DC. If the subject is undead they must make this fortitude save or suffer double damage instead. Burning Edge This causes the Wayblades sword to glow Red with heat at no damage to the sword or wielder. For the entire round the sword deals double damage instead of standard damage, though all damage in the round is treated as fire damage. Froze Edge As Burning edge, but the blade glows blue and deals cold damage instead. Critical Eye For the round the Plunge attack is made, the Wayblades Plunge attack has a critical threat range of 10-20 and they gain an extra +4 to confirm the critical. If the critical hit succeded the enemy takes critical damage as normal and an extra 1d4 constitution damage. Crippler The Wayblades sword takes on a red glow. If the Wayblades plunge attack succeded on dealing damage, the enemy is automatically treated as being exausted for the standard duration. The player is free to come up with their own custom Blade art, but must have it approved by the DM with those listed here as a guideline for power. Epic Wayblades are said to possess multiple Blade Arts, some of which are far more powerful.. some are even said to be able to use them much more often than a normal Wayblade. -- Thoughts? Balance ideas? Typo pointers..? :P I know the name doesnt seem overly fitting, but I couldnt think of anything better. For the record, i was inspired to make this after playing through The Way (http://www.crestfallen.us/download.html). |
