Thief-acrobats can do what? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-27-08, 02:17 PM Hi I was playing a level 5 rouge who met all the qualifications to take levels in thief-acrobat so now I'm playing that same character at level 6 and I realized that one of the abilities I get right off the bat as a thief-acrobat is a little confusing to me. I get 'kip up' and 'unbounded leap' both right away. Now the description for 'kip up' is very straightforward saying the I can "stand up from a prone position as a free action" but I find the description for 'unbounded leap' a little confusing. It says "A thief-acrobat's height does not limit her jumping distance (horizontal or vertical)" and I read through the description for the jump skill and it looked like the only thing involving the size of a character was the vertical reach. I'm a small character so I'm wondering how this will effect my jumping ability.

I think you are using the 3.0 version of the thief-acrobat from Song and Silence. 3.0 Jump skill had a restriction based on character height. Try the 3.5 version from Complete Adventurer. It's available for free as a preview.

03-27-08, 03:17 PM Are you looking at a 3.0 version of the class? In 3.0, there were height limits like that.

The 3.5 version of the thief-acrobat (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20041210b&page=3) doesn't have the unbounded leap feature.

Often, those classes have a number of class abilities built around features of 3.0 that were removed in 3.5 (Peerless Archer, Deepwood Sniper, and apparently Thief-Acrobat are included in here).

Yeah, that was one of the biggest criticisms after 3.5 was released and WotC started updating supplementary material to v3.5.

"If it's not updated it's either not worth updating or it's fine as is." Really? No @#$%! Wait, if it simply hasn't been updated yet? Why aren't somethings updated such that they are then worth having been updated? Whatever happened to keeping the Rules Reference (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20050110x) document current?
