| duncandun04-20-07, 03:52 AM | This is, after many revisions, complete redrawings, and of course, help from a few online communities(as well as my dm and friends), The kinda-final-still-needs-a-10th-level-power-and-im-still-not-sure-its-done: Toran's Shadow Hit Dice: D6 Pre-requisites Alignment:Any non-Good. Feats:Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus: Dagger. Skills:Bluff:8 ranks, Knowledge:Local:8 ranks, Hide/Move Silently 8 ranks,Craft: Poison: 8 Ranks. Special: Sneak attack 3d6. Skill Points: 8+Int Modifier. Chosen Target:At first level, when the Toran's Shadow accepts a contract, she makes the contract her Chosen Target. She gains +1 Attack and Damage against it for as long as the contract is active. She may study her target for up to 10 minutes, after 10 minutes of study, she gains an adittional +1 attack and damage equal to half her Toran's Shadow level. EX:A 10th level Toran's Shadow would gain a total of +6 on attack and damage on her Chosen Target after 10 minutes of study. Intelligent Defense:The Toran's Shadow adds his intelligence bonus to his Armor Class, this is limited by his levels in Toran's Shadow. EX a level 1 Toran's Shadow with an intelligence of 16 adds 1 to his AC, and a Toran's Shadow level 10 with a intelligence of 24 adds 7. This bonus does not apply when cought flat-footed. Only applies when wearing light, or no armor. Sneak attack:As the Rogue Ability, it stacks with existing any existing sneak attack bonuses. Eye for Weakness:At Second Level the Toran's Shadow can spot weaknesses in armor much easier than normal, when wielding a dagger the Toran's Shadow's critical threat range increases by two. Ex: Dagger 19-20 becomes 17-20, this stacks with improved critical, or Keen, but not both. If the Toran's Shadow studies her chosen target for at least 10 minutes, her first attack against it Hits, and criticals. Use Poison:As the Assassin Use Poison ability. If a poison is used against her Chosen Target, the DC is +1, at level 5 +3, and 10, +5. Tracking:The Toran's Shadow gains the ability to track, as per the Track feat. The Toran's Shadow may substitute Survival, with Gather Information checks when In an urban setting. Improved Use Poison: Applying Poison in a combat is a move action. Death's Hand:At 6th level, the Toran's Shadow may add her intelligence bonus to her Poison DCs, Subsequently, she may also add her intelligence bonus to her attack bonus, instead of Dexterity, or Strength, which ever is highest, Against her chosen target, her intelligence bonus, and Strength or Dex stack when determining Attack Bonus. Dagger Training: The Toran's Shadow's training with the use of daggers begins with dual-wielding. She gains Two-Weapon Fighting for use with Daggers. Dagger Training(Advanced):Toran's Shadow's skill with daggers furthers, the next technique focuses around efficiency. She gains Weapon Specialization with Daggers, and her penalty for dual wielding drops to -1/-2. Dagger Training(Expert):To become an expert with daggers, the Toran's Shadow must learn to become like lightning itself in combat. She gains the Improved Two-Weapon Fighting Feat. Dagger Training(Mastery):On the road to combat-mastery with Daggers, the Toran's Shadow learns how to better time her attacks, making sure they land. She gains the Greater Weapon Focus: Daggers Feat, and her penalty for dual wielding drops to /-1. Greater Feint: Feinting is now a free action. Hide In Plain Sight: Hide In Plain Sight. Dagger Master: The Toran's Shadow has mastered melee combat with daggers. She gains two abilities:Greater Two-Weapon fighting, and Greater Weapon Specialization: Daggers. She no longer has any attack penalty for dual wielding. Unknown 10th level ability: ----------------------------------------------------------- This class is for a DM's Homebrew Campaign setting. In which we are all Dwarves. I like Assassin, but I find it Weak and Lacking. I like Invisible Blade, but I find it a little awkward, I like Rogues. This is what I believe a rogue/assassin should be, basically, a dual-dagger wielding guy that will cut out your heart in a second if you don't pay attention, and vanish from you're eyes if you do. At anyrate, I'd love any criticism, wisdom, food, or any suggestions(this one definitely, I'm always open to suggestions, especially for a 10th ability.). Thanks for looking! |
| Nalreth04-20-07, 04:03 AM | Might I suggest Gather Information as the skill to replace Survival for tracking in Urban Environments? Also, given what you're angling this PrC towards, I would think that Death Attack would make an appropriate 10th level power, since at 10th level, the save DC would be 20+Int modifier, which I find to be fitting at that level. |
| duncandun04-20-07, 04:14 AM | Good Idea on the GI check instead of Search, Sounds good to me. As For death attack, I'll think on it, Seems pretty good at this point but I loathe death attack, really, as the assassin ability, it's the only thing I hate about them, i find it way to weak(mainly the save, by level 20 it's practically useless I've found). Maybe I'll come up with some way to make it more powerful. |
| Nalreth04-20-07, 04:31 AM | If the Death Attack doesn't work for you, you could alter it as such: After three full rounds of doing nothing but studying the target, and the target is fully unaware of the Toran's Shadow, the target is treated as helpless to the Toran's Shadow. A coup de grace may be performed within one round of this preparation, but if the attack is not made, the effort is wasted. |
| duncandun04-20-07, 04:35 AM | Hmm, Maybe... Eye For Weakness already has a similiar ability though the wait is I believe 10 minutes... |
| Nalreth04-20-07, 04:46 AM | Hmm, Maybe... Eye For Weakness already has a similiar ability though the wait is I believe 10 minutes... 10 minutes seems more than fair if you've already got something like that going. Besides, for a 10th level ability in a PrC, instigating a coup de grace in a target that is completely unaware of you when they are not normally helpless is quite potent, especially for a class that has sneak attack damage. |
| duncandun04-20-07, 04:58 AM | Kind of Off topic, but I just realized something. With Keen(Or Imp crit) on a dagger, with eye for weakness, my crit range will be 13-20(I do believe). If I grab telling blow(sneak attack damage on criticals), It will totally rock... Just thought I'd let this be known... I'm going to have ALOT of fun with this guy:) |

Hmm, I might go with the original death attack thing, or perhaps you're other suggestion, I do want to have some potent abilities that I can use on bad guys/good guys(depending how you look at it) that aren't necessarily my characters current Mark/Contract. |
| Nalreth04-20-07, 01:40 PM | Death Attack fort saves are a hell of a lot lower than a coup de grace's fort save would be (especially with your sneak attack damage), but you can be right in front of, even talking to, the target as long as they don't detect you as a threat. |
| duncandun04-20-07, 03:25 PM | hmmm anyone else? lol |
