Trying to find a PrC--more specialisation, more spells, not Master Specialist [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm playing a character who is likely to take Master Specialist (Conjuration) from Complete Mage soon. I had it in my mind that the PrC forced you to then drop another school of magic and spell slot, but gave you a further two spells from your specialisation instead. Rereading the description today, however, that is not the case.

Can anyone think what PrC I might be thinking of instead, or am I misremembering completely? A second thought was that it might be Red Wizard, but I can't check as that's not in the SRD.

there is the focused specialist variant from some book. forget what. the variant says you get extra spells if you get rid of more schools. probably what you thought.

Now that you say red wizard though that may have also done this. It does. Red wizard also requires you to give up a school.

It might be something in the SRD, but I don't think it's a PrC. I know the variant in CMage, but it's just that - a variant.

Indeed, Focused Specialist is an alternate wizard feature on page 34 of Complete Mage. It's entirely possible to be both a Focused Specialist and a Master Specialist, and don't forget the other specialist features in Unearthed Arcana and the Player's Handbook II.

That's the one, yeah, thanks Shaman and Lotus! I'd been convinced it was in CM, but forgot about the class features...
