| ThePope04-07-07, 10:37 PM | so i'm working out a ultimate magus character... i get 1 arcane spell for spell levels 1-5 that i can transfer over from my wizard side to my beguiler side. what spells would you suggest? normal books (ie phb, phb2, completes, spell compendium, no campaign books) |
| CantripN04-08-07, 08:44 AM | Technically speaking, you can't transfer spells from one spell list to the other, even with Expanded Knowledge. It's meant for Sor/Wiz. Now, if your DM house rules... 1st - Nerveskitter 2nd - Scorching Ray 3rd - Unluck 4th - Assay Resistance 5th - Teleport |
| ThePope04-08-07, 01:37 PM | just outta curiousity i went and reread Expanded Spell Knowledge... theres absolutely nothing in there about it needing to already be on my spell list... (i did see the post from Ask Wizards talking about it, but even that didn't actually say you can't do it) |

As for which spells to transfer I don't know all the spells on CantripN's list but believe they should be spells you'd either always want available (even if you don't use them often - Teleport), that let the Beguiler deal real damage (Scorching Ray), or that you may like to cast repeatedly. |

| StevenO04-09-07, 04:26 PM | Expanded Knowledge is an ability found in several classes that let them expand their spells known and is basically used by spontaneous casters. It is very similiar to the Extra Spell feat found in Complete Arcane I believe. |
| CantripN04-09-07, 04:27 PM | What book is Expanded Spell Knowledge in? It's a class feature an UM gets... Now, the spells I mentioned are good for use all day long. Nerveskitter gives a +5 to initiative, so you'd want it for every battle. Scorching Ray is one of the best all around damage spells. Unluck forces the target to roll a save not to suck. Assay Resistance is AWESOME for ignoring any SR... Teleport is a spell you'll want when you don't have it... |
