| Feeb04-10-07, 06:34 PM | This is my first post to this board. Thought this one up for an incarnum based (amoung other things) campaign I might get to run in the near future. More intended as an NPC prestige class for the BBEG and it's cohorts. Backstory is these guys are a splinter faction of Nerull worshippers who want to finish the job Nerull began at the Well of Souls. I'm also working on a arcane caster and divine caster prc's along the same lines (thematically) as this one, but those are for another post. This is a bit Magic of Incarnum specific. Based somewhat of the d20 SRD blackguard. I apologize if this appears to be too similar to PrC's already posted, any such similarity is totally unintentional. Voidsoul Slayer Entry Requirements Base Attack Bonus: +7 Skills: Knowledge (religon) 4, Spellcraft 4. Feats: Power Attack, Cleave, Incarnum Resistance. Weapon Proficiency: Must be proficient with martial weapons. Special: The candidate must not have an essentia pool. Voidsoul Slayer HD: d10 Level BAB Fort Ref Will Ability 1 +1 +2 +2 +2 Aspect of the Void, Voidsoul Smite 1/day 2 +2 +3 +3 +3 Aura of Unlife 3 +3 +3 +3 +3 Voidsoul Smite 2/day 4 +4 +4 +4 +4 Greater Aura of Unlife 5 +5 +4 +4 +4 Severed from the Web of Life, Soulrending Touch 1/day Class Skills (2 + Int modifier per level) -- Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Hide (Dex), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Profession (Wis), and Ride (Dex). Class Features Aspect of the Void (Ex): The Voidsoul Slayer gains a +2 bonus to save against any soulmeld or incarnum-based effect allow a saving throw. This also includes spells and magic effects with the or [Good] descriptors. In addition, postive energy and healing effects are less effective when used on a Soulvoid slayer. The Soulvoid Slayer cannot willingly be effected by postive energy or healing effects and must roll a saving throw everytime they are subject to postive energy or healing effects. The Voidsoul Slayer gains a +2 bonus to these saving throws. Voidsoul Smite (Su): Once per day, the Voidsoul Slayer may attempt to smite a creature as a standard action. The the Voidsoul Slayer adds a bonus to her attack roll equal to her Cha modifier and deals 1 extra point of damage per class level. If the Voidsoul Slayer smites a creature that has an essentia pool, then that creature takes essentia damage equal to the total damage dealth by the Voidsoul Slayer's Smite attack. If the creatures essentia pool has already been reduced to zero via ability damage or some other effect, that creature instead takes regular smite damage. Aura of Unlife (Su): The Soulvoid Slayer's connection to the Pit of Ultimate Destruction beings to manifest itself as an aura of shadowy illumination that extends from the Soulvoid Slayer 5' in all directions. All incarnum feats, class or racial abilities, spells, effects and soulmelds are less effective when used within the area of effect of the Soulvoid Slayer's Aura of Unlife. All of the above mentioned effects are treated as having one less point of invested essentia, to a minimum of 1, while within the line of effect of the aura. Greater Aura of Unlife (Su): With time, the Soulvoid Slayer's connection to the Pit of Ultimate Destruction deepens. The Soulvoid Slayer's Aura of Unlife now effectively reduces the amount of essentia invested in incarnum feats, class or racial abilities, spells, effects and soulmelds by 2. In addition,, healing and positive energy effects are also effected by the Soulvoid Slayer's Aura of Unlife. These effects and spells are treated as being one die type less than normal. For example, a cleric casting Cure Light Wounds cures 1d6 damage +1/level, rather than 1d8. Undead with the Aura's area of effect are treated as having Turn Resistance +2. Severed from the Web of Life (Su): A voidsoul slayer becomes immune to all spells of the (Healing) sub-school. Further, the Voidsoul slayer cannot be brought back to life by any spell or effect short of a [I]Miracle or Wish spell. A Soulvoid Slayer who gains the Undead type instead has a +4 bonus on their saving throws against spells of the (Healing) sub-school. This bonus does not stack with the bonus granted by the Aspect of the Void Extraordinary Ability. Soulrending Touch (Su): Once per day, the Soulvoid Slayer may call upon the dark power of Pit of Ultimate Destruction. The Soulvoid Slayer's touch ablates the subject's life force upon making a successful melee touch attack. The touch deals 3d4 points of Constitution damage. This damage can be negated by a Fort save (DC 10 +class level +Cha modifier). Any soulmelds or essentia displaced by the Constitution damage violently discorporate, dealing damage equal to the total amount of displaced essentia to all within 15' of the target of the Soulrending Touch, excluding the Soulvoid Slayer. Any creature slain by this effect immediately animates on the following round as an Incarnum Wraith, and immediately attacks the nearest target, excluding the Soulvoid Slayer. |

| Feeb06-15-07, 12:00 PM | Dialed up the pre-req's a notch, upping level of entry moderately. I'd also like to explain the Soulrending Touch (Su) for players not familiar with Incarnum. You Con modifer affects the number of soulmelds you can have active at anyone time. If you con score drops, you must choose which active soulmelds are lost. This ability is kind of a "Save-or-Suck" ability that really hits an Incarnum-based class where they live. |
