I figure the Warforged and the Effigy is a construct therefore the Wizard part gives it access to repair spells for both the player and the effigy. So is this viable? Also could a warforged Artificer/Effigy master work? Like I said I dont know the requirements for the Effigy master so Artificer maybe completely out of the question. But the Infusions would be a cool way to buff your effigy and even thought they dont get repair spells they can easily use wands of repair to the same effect. -Jesus saves, the rest of you take full damage. |

| zorgling2507-10-07, 05:04 PM | You would probably get more responses out of the CharOp boards. Not having played an effigy master, I'm afraid I can't be of much help. |
| Marcus Majarra07-10-07, 09:52 PM | 1) Warforged wizard/effigy master is a viable option if your goal is keeping both yourself and your effigies in top shape. 2) Warforged with only artificer levels cannot qualify for effigy master. The PrC requires that the character have simulacrum on one of his class spell lists, whether he is able to cast it or not. Still, it would allow for an artificer to qualify taking only a single wizard or sorcerer level. Thus a warforged artificer 6 /wizard 1 could qualify for the PrC. |

The bad thing with effigies is that while they're good at dealing damage, they're bad at taking it. A couple fireballs and you have a dead crispified stuffed toy. Worse, the DM has to waive the creation rules at low levels until you get Fabricate and can just toss them out the window. The ability to buff the effigies at 3rd level is useful. Everything else? Not so much. The other trouble is the massive XP drain. Just because you can make a high HD effigy doesn't mean you can afford it. That said, they're a lot of fun to play and a good deal of power. The DM ended up asking me to nerf some of my plans because the fighters weren't getting enough action. An artificer already gets a +2 to level to make effigies. Add in a few rings of master artifice and an orange Ioun stone and you're good to go. |

Failing that l say see if your gm lets you play an artifacer war forged substution leves make that a very powerful class for that race. |

(Rules in Sharn, CoT.) All told, however, the trouble with effigies is the same trouble with spellbooks and familiars--they break and can't be resurrected by anything short of a Miracle. The DM has to pull some punches or make the character with them completely pointless. |

Thing is item creation is just so cool, and it has a few advantages, even if its complicated. It doesn't have to worry about them being dispelled or banished back to where they came from. Just make usre you have access to repair spells in quantity. Selling the odd construct (or item) should keep you in enough gold if you need to rebuild somthing. I recomend the artifacer build for thsi because warforged racial sub levels make the craft points go alot farther. Remember you can destroy any items you find to bolster you craft pool. |
| nepence07-12-07, 03:30 AM | Remember, you don't need to be an effigy master to make effigies. If you have the Craft Construct feat, you can make them. Of course, Craft Construct requires Craft Wondrous Item and Craft Magical Arms and Armor feats. But the artificer gets both of those. To help on the time aspect of it, try getting a dedicated wright. |
