A few of my peers are leaving to go back to school, and unforunately they are our sole cleric types in our current weekly game. At our DM's recomendation we, I and another player will be picking up the two player characters as temporary NPC's. We are doing this for two fold reasons. The players will be returning and wanting to play their characters and it would be easier if they are of a similar level to the rest of the players, and we have no other Divine caster types. One of the Players is a straight Paladin and not my responsability. The other is a Cleric/Monk with the intent of going War-Priest PRC.

I have never played a Monk, and only touched on cleric to enter a PRC in the past. Currently however the build looks poor to me. When I asked the player how they wanted to progress their build they told me that they were unsure of the feats, but that they wanted to take about 2 levels of cleric for every 1 level of monk till they could enter into the the War-priest PRC.

To make matters worse, the guy has no dex.
His stats are Str16,Dex10,Con12,Int11,Wis17,Char13

His current feats are Augment Healing, Combat Casting, Weapon Focus (Quarter Staff), with one feat left to choose.

Any help or suggestions on how to progress this player character turned NPC would be apreciated.

Warpriest? Wouldn't Sacred Fist be waay better? Anyway, I would suggest you put this with the character optimization board, but so far... I think he might be better off donning a heavy plate and (animated?) shield - with those stats, it will give him better defense.

Holy moly, this Monk/Cleric fellow with the poor feat selection and planning to go into a weak PrC is one of the least optimized PCs I've seen in a while.

Nothing wrong with that, of course. And it could be worse - it's still a Cleric at heart, which means it won't truly suck.

I spoke with him today and convinced him to go into sacred fist instead of WarPriest. And I got permission from the DM to change his weapon focus to unarmed combat. But your right he is still only going to be a mediaocre build at best. With saves of 13/13/13, BAB of 16, and 8th lvl spell casting.

You will want to note that the Sacred Fist provides full spellcasting progression, not what it shows in the table. The text explains that the class provides spellcasting progression at every level, not what it shows in the table.

I would also like to point out that the sacred fist, is that once you take the class you can't raise any other class; well you can but doing so will prevent you from taking anymore sacred fist levels...ever. so if you are going to take that class then take it and no other until you reach level 10 in it.
