| ZypherX08-13-07, 04:11 AM | Got bored today, so I figured I'd try my hand at making a PrC for characters who want to excel at the use of some particular type of weapon. Sorry if it's a bit wordy, this is my first PrC I've written up. Thanks go to EscherEnigma for helping me work out the details. Weapon Specialist Requirements Feats: Weapon Focus (Any), Improved Critical (Any) Skills: Craft (weaponsmithing or bowmaking) 4 ranks Base Attack Bonus: +8 Class Information: Hit Die: d10 Class Skills: The weapon master’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Ride (Dex), Sense Motive (Wis), and Swim (Str). SKill points at each level: 2 + Int modifier Level | BAB |Fort |Ref | Will | Special ------------------------------------------------------------ 1st | +0 | +2 | +0 | +0 | Chosen Weapon, | | | | | Weapon Form | 2nd | +1 | +3 | +0 | +0 | Master's Touch 1/day | 3rd | +2 | +3 | +1 | +1 | Bonus Feat | 4th | +3 | +4 | +1 | +1 | Resilient Weapon | 5th | +3 | +4 | +1 | +1 | Bonded Weapon, | | | | | | Master's Touch 2/day | Chosen Weapon: When a character enters this class, he must designate a weapon type to master. They must have both Weapon Focus and Improved Critical for this weapon. A weapon master requires 10 minutes of meditation in a quiet environment with the weapon in order to gain the benefits of this class. The Weapon Master may do this with no more than two weapons at once. Weapon Form: For a number of times per day equal to (2 x Weapon Master level), the Weapon Master can add his levels in this class as a competence bonus to a single attack and damage roll. This attack For example, a 4th-level Weapon Master could add +4 to his attack and damage a total of 8 times per day. Master's Touch: At 2nd level, a Weapon Master can choose to reroll a single attack he has made with his chosen weapon once per day. The decision to reroll must be made before the result of the roll is known. At 5th level, a Weapon Master can do this twice per day. Bonus Feat: The Weapon Master may chose a bonus feat from the Fighter bonus feat list, provided he meets the requirements of the feat. Resilient Weapon: The Weapon Master's chosen weapon is treated as having a caster level equal to the base attack bonus of the Weapon Master plus the character's current Weapon Master level for the purpose of determining the weapon's saves and the DC of Dispel Magic attempts on the weapon. Bonded Weapon: At 5th level, a Weapon Master gains a +4 bonus on rolls to resist disarm or sunder attempts. Special: Weapon Master levels stack with Fighter levels when determining feat eligibility. The purpose of this class is to give melee classes an opportunity to specialize in a weapon even if they aren't a fighter. Of course, fighters can enter this class starting at level 9 whereas other classes would have to wait until level 10 or later. Lemme know what you think! :) |

Not bad for a non-fighter character, but in my opinion, the original Weapon Master of Sword and Fist is the way to go for true mastery of a weapon, but that only applies to melee weapons, so this is a good substitute for archers. Sort of a Weapon Master Lite!;) PS: You might want to tweak the features so they say Weapon Specialist, to avoid confusion with the Weapon Master of Sword and Fist. |
