This attack does 1d4 damage. Determined Fury: The Weaselkin Berserker can use their dexterity modifier in place of a strength modifier for grapple checks. They do not have a penalty for their small size while they are small sized or smaller, and can grapple foes larger then normal starting at a foe three times larger at first level and increasing by an extra size category per Weaselkin Berserker level. Determined Fury can only be used while small sized or smaller. While raging and small size or smaller, the Weaselkin Berserker gains a bonus equal to half their Weaselkin Berserker level to all grapple checks. Diehard: As the feat Improved Determined Fury The Weaselkin Berserker can attack with an off-hand light or natural weapon while grappling, either from a normal grapple check or from Determined Fury. This only works while the Weaselkin Berserker is raging. They however, do not gain the benefit of their bite attack, since they are using that to hold onto their opponent. Dire Weasel Bite: Each round at which a Weaselkin Berserker has an opponent grappled, they may deal one point of constitution damage, with a Fortitude save to prevent the constitution damage. The DC of the save is 10 + The number of Weaselkin Berserker levels + The Weaselkin Berserker's Constitution modifier. Raging Weaselkin: Gain an additional use of Rage per day. if the Weaselkin Barbarian has multiple classes that give them rage, this is only applied to one class. Fluff: Small, vicious, fast, and likely to bite you: These are the traits that define both the Weaselkin Berserker and it's namesake the Weasel. These are raging warriors who try to emulate the fury of the weasel when in combat. Weaselkin Berserkers do not often take on a "true" totem animal, forsaking all of the large creatures. They instead focusing on ability while raging, using their small size to their advantage. They do not see size as power, believing instead that pure rage is true strength. Most who tap into the power of rage are either chaotic or neutral, but the Weaselkin Berserker does not have to be. This does not stop most Weaselkin Berserkers from being highly chaotic, however. As Weaselkin Berserkers often give in to anger, rage and the joy of battle, they tend more to neutral or evil then good. Weaselkin Berserkers do not train in learning how to speak with their namesake, as their namesake is more often then not going to bite off their fingers then be helpful. Some come from a background that is more focused on nature, however, being either Rangers with a level of Barbarian or a Druidic Avenger. Many of these still forego bothering to talk to weasels, still. And yes, I know it is a silly class. But can it be a silly class that is fun to play, or make for interesting NPC's? And you may thank Henry the Battlehamster for help with the mechanics, at least I think that's his name on these forums. |
| JaronK03-01-08, 10:27 PM | Shouldn't he do con damage like a Dire Weasel when clamped on? JaronK |
| I_roll_ones03-01-08, 10:29 PM | Seems a bit powerful, but what of an extra 1d4 damage per round? |
| JaronK03-01-08, 10:31 PM | Well, 1 point of con damage per round isn't that bad... and remember that small critters stink at grappling. So after he's clamped on, he might be screwed. But, I dunno, I think looking to the dire weasel for pointers makes a lot of sense. JaronK |
| I_roll_ones03-01-08, 10:33 PM | And remember, using dexterity, not strength to get those grapple attempts. Maybe instead of the con damage, get a +2 bonus to the dexterity check? |
| JaronK03-01-08, 10:43 PM | It's dexterity to engage the grapple. You haven't changed what happens after that point (such as if your opponent then grapples you into a pin). Also, remember it's a -4 penalty for being small to all grapple checks, while large critters get a +4. Even dex based, a small grappler is not a good plan without some SERIOUS benefits. JaronK |
| bhu03-02-08, 12:25 AM | You just made my day with this. I needed a smile :D |
| DonThelonious03-02-08, 12:40 PM | Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. I now want to play a Tallfellow Halfling barbarian5/WkB5/Animal Lord10(Weasel). Talk about a little terror. |
| I_roll_ones03-02-08, 03:41 PM | Thank you both for the compliments. I think I can safely consider this the best class I have come up with. And if you play one, DonThelonious, please tell me how it goes. |
| Viktor_Von_Doom03-04-08, 01:23 AM | I must play this. |
| ciaran03-05-08, 10:46 PM | There's a stipulation to grappling that would be of importance to a small creature who has class abilities related to grappling. "You automatically lose an attempt to hold if the target is two or more size categories larger than you are." Maybe you could expand this to three categories while the Weaselkin Berserker is raging? |
| JaronK03-06-08, 02:40 AM | Perhaps even one greater size catagory per class level, so that eventually even an Elder Dragon might have a tiny ticked off goblin attached to its flank. Also, can you put in some ability called "Fangy Doom?" It... seems necessary. JaronK |
| I_roll_ones03-06-08, 03:38 AM | Fangy doom doesn't sound quite right. But what would it be? That they grow fangs? Given that the bite was for flavor purposes and so they could use both weapons while grappling...Yeah. maybe if the bite was upgraded, but then weapon focus/discipline focus feats start to get wonky. |
