Anyone?Based on a half heard comment about there being a prestige class for a sorcerer who has killed something in combat without magic and my PC's uncanny ability to kill more in combat than the rest of the team put together I remembered this and figured that I should try and find it, but I dont know where it is. Someone out there must know though.

Well there are a lot of PrCs for sorcerers, but I do not think I remember that one. Sounds like a gish Prc, though.

I think the prestige class your talking about is the spellsword(from complete warrior), which is a martial/casting prc.

It sounds like the Spellsword in Complete Warrior.
But it is not just for sorcerers.

The "Defeat an opponent without magic" is part of the Spellsword (CW) prereqs. There are a number of other prereqs that basically require having a level in an armor using martial class to satisfy.

What are you looking for in a PrC? Arguably any full casting PrC is a step up for the Sorcerer so you need to be more specific on the character's overall focus/goals.

The Sorcerer class seems to encourage finding a PRC by not giving it any class bonuses at higher levels.

I would suggest taking something with full casting progression. Complete Arcane would be the best place to start. Wild Mage or Fatespinner.

There's also the Dragonheart Mage in Draconomicon I believe (maybe races of dragon too) that requires you take a sorcerer only feat (Draconic Heritage). Along with playing up to the Draconic Feat line, you get the ability to convert your spell slots into breath attacks (which could add some versatility by allowing you to convert non-damaging spells into damaging ones). It improves with your level too, so you end up doing like 3d6 damage per spell level sacrificed (so a ninth level spell slot does 27d6).

You lose 2 or 3 spell levels though, which is the only real offset.

Another interesting prestige class is the mage of the arcane order. I know its a wizards prc, but if you take that feat that lets you prepare spells even if you are a sorc you can enter it. It gives the sorc some needed variety in choosing spells that are limited to certain situations through the spellpool, and im pretty sure its full casting progresion too.

But on the other hand, it doesnt really make sense, so its really up to your dm

I am a bit sceptical about the Mage of the Arcane Order, but it could work if you need a rare spell once or twice per day. You might want to consider its probable prototype, the Guild Wizard of Waterdeep from Magic of Faerun. Ironically, the "wizard" has more sensible prerequisites for sorcerers.

Anyway, Draaka; what do you want your sorcerer to specialize in? There are quite a few PrCs, after all.
