I suppose the d6 HP is to represent the fact that the Cleric becomes more of a Healer than a Warrior but then why grant Martial Proficiency? Would it be balanced if I took away Martial Proficiency and gave back a d8 HP? |
| bkdubs12311-05-07, 01:33 PM | huh. that is weird. yes, get rid of weapon proficiency and give them their d8s back. sounds perfectly fine to me, and makes more sense. |
| Fend11-06-07, 12:58 PM | hehe, belive me, even tho he looses the d8 to a d6 he still remains "all" warrior. In my campaign for a long time my best player fielded a Radiant sevant. I guess his body just becomes more commited to channeling energy and becomes more of a "Vessel". They do play a severe supporting roll... but lets put it this way. They have the ability to instantaniously pretty much heal someone from -9 hit points to full health most of the time (except for things with triple diget Hp) includeing themselves when given the Diehard feat. If this class were say - the ultimate warrior cleric - then everyone would want to take it. After all - some may argue if left at d8 hp or more this might well be one of the best possible cleric prestige classes to take for people who want to be both healers and warriors. But personally i already think it is, even with only a d6. * Now to answer your question. Its balanced as it is. If you can call clerics balanced to begin with... |
| StevenO11-06-07, 02:32 PM | The class grants Proficiency in all Martial Weapons? I never noticed given everything else the class gets and except as a prereq that isn't really such a big step up for weapons. Ignoring roleplaying conciderations for a moment the only reason for a cleric to stay OUT of RSoP is the minor HD reduction because beyond that you lose nothing to a cleric (you still get full casting and turning) and gain all those speical abilities. If you don't think having Martial Weapon Proficiency and a d6 HD go together you should just drop the added weapon proficiency. I don't think anyone will truely miss that but they'd all enjoy the extra hp for leaving the HD unchanged. |
| kriskey11-06-07, 05:34 PM | I'd keep the d6. At least it's a stab at balancing the class. |
| Kadasbrass11-06-07, 06:53 PM | Yeah, you have a full-casting progression prc thats designed for a base class with no class features outside of casting spells? Gotta keep the d6 as the only balancing thing going on. |
| Jaxgaret11-07-07, 12:07 AM | I'm going to agree with everyone else who said that you should not give the RSoP a d8 HD. If you feel like dropping the MWP, you can do so. It doesn't really need anything in return to balance it, as it is more than powerful enough even with the d6 HD. I can see maybe dropping the MWP and giving it a free Toughness feat at level 1, if you really feel like getting something in return. |
| CrazyOzzy11-07-07, 07:27 AM | Thanks guys for your responses, I understand your arguments. Through this PrC the Cleric gains alot of abilities (where he had none before) to add to his full spellcasting progression. It is balancing. Cheers  |
