| Subtle Knife10-23-07, 09:26 PM | A Kalashtar telepath uses True Mind Switch on a Warforged. My questions are as follows: 1) Does the new warforged-kalashtar gestalt retain her kalashtar mental abilities (ie. Mindlinking, bonus PP, ST bonuses against mind-affecting abilities, bonuses to bluff/diplomacy/intimidate; bonuses gained through kalashtar telepath variant levels)? 2) Does the new warforged-kalashtar gestalt gain the effects of any warforged feats (ie adamantine body, etc.) that the previous "occupant" of the body had? Thanks for your input! SK |

Thanks for your input! SK 1) I would think the mental abilities would transfer, but not necessarily any racial bonus (thus the WF wouldn't get them) 2) the adamantine body is a physical trait - so it would be retained by who ever was in the body. |
| chicgeek10-24-07, 01:20 PM | With True Mind Switch, "You retain your own hit points, saving throws (possibly modified by new ability scores), class abilities, supernatural and spell-like abilities, spells and powers, and skills and feats (although skill checks use your new ability scores, and you may be temporarily unable to use feats whose requirements you do not meet in your new body)," so you keep all those abilities. But "not upon its acquired or learned knowledge (such as skills and feats it possesses)", so, oddly enough, you wouldn't gain the Adamantine Body feat. |
| Lycanthromancer10-24-07, 01:58 PM | You wouldn't get the Adamantine Body feat, but you'd gain its effects anyway, since you're still in a body covered in adamantine armor. Thus, it's pretty much a moot point. :) |
| chicgeek10-24-07, 04:37 PM | Well, it's going to have to be DM's call on that. RAW says that you don't get the feat, but rather, it goes with the ex-warforged to his new body, tho he'd be incapable of using it unless the new body was warforged also. But it makes sense that the Adamantine Body stays with the original warforged body. But that brings up the question: what other "physical" feats would be left with the body (warforged or otherwise)? Lightning Reflexes? Great Fortitude? Toughness? Endurance? |
| Bauglir10-24-07, 05:20 PM | Hm... this is a houserule, but I'd say, "Ok, you get the benefit of the feat, but you're not proficient with it, so you take penalties as though you were wearing Adamantine Full Plate without proficiency, even if you ARE proficient in that. You can take the Adamantine Body feat as your next feat to gain that proficiency, even though you're not 1st level." Doesn't fix it entirely, but it's slightly better. I houserule in Psionic failure chance, so that might actually make it a serious problem, but that's another houserule for another thread. |

Which are covered separately. |
