Hi,
I've been searching (with google) and looking around, but I can't seem to find any divine mind builds out there. Does anyone have any links I may have missed, or any builds that are out there?
Thanks,
Ranath

No, because it sucks so bad no one wants to risk touching it, even with ten foot pole, lest they be pulled into a whirlpool made of fail.

As you can tell by some of the people posting, the Divine Mind is a very poor class that doesen't really get a lot of love on these boards. Is there any ability you want out of the Divine Mind in particular? Perhaps we can give a suggestion of a class that fills that role better.

The Divine Mind Handbook, apply this to your character ASAP! (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/implosion.htm)

um... ok, so they aren't that good eh? *grin*

well, I wanted to maybe do a combination with divine mind and dragon shaman, or marshall. Basically wanted to give a new class a test drive (I have a player in one of my games playing a dragon shaman, so I know what they are all about). I've seen a couple of builds with dragon shaman and marshall. I'm replacing a cleric that died in a game i'm playing, and I wanted to try something different. So, I need a healer type. I thought, healer type, new... divine mind. Didn't realize they made puddles of mud look tasty, but that's why you ask questions. :)

An Ardent would work better as a healer than a Divine Mind would. But then, so would a Bard.

What level are you looking at?

Level 4 total and basically the DM's cool with any 3.5 wotc book. 32 point buy. It's for the Age of Worms.

If you were level five I would suggest Binder. A level five Binder can make pacts with Buer, who grants the ability to use cure light wounds once every five rounds as a supernatural ability (among other things). With Buer the entire party can start every fight at full health. And the other things she grants (including fast healing and DR /- if you want it) make you yourself extremely hard to kill.

I speak form personal experiance. Fighting with Buer on your side turns your HP into a yoyo.

And Binders (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20060303a&page=2), pact magic in general really (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binder_%28Dungeons_%26_Dragons%29#Vestig es), is oozing with flavor (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20060303a&page=4). Realy (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dd/20060407a)

Anyway, psionic healing is pretty rough at level 4. Possible, but rough. It's limited to touch of health, which heals a paltry 2 HP per power points, and the vigor + psicrystal + share pain + empathic transfer trick, which is more efficient but more convoluted.

The trick is as follows:

Take psicrystal affinity. Manifest vigor, and share it with your psicrystal. Manifest share pain between yourself and your psicrystal. Your psicrystal is now a massive battery of hit points.

Safeguard your party with share pain manifested between yourself and your front-line tanks. Heal your party with empathic transfer. Damage that you absorb from your allies will be split between yourself and your psicrystal, and soaked up by vigor.

This has an efficiency of a little less than 5 hit points healed per power point. It's roughly on par with the cure x wounds line of spells, but requires you to spend a lot more powers known to pull off.

Have body adjustment, body purification, and touch of health, but save them for emergencies. If any damage gets past vigor, just rest for a night. Each night's rest heals a number of HP equal to your hit dice. Take the Faster Healing feat if you want more. If you're regularly using empathic transfer to heal poison/disease, or if you just want to be able to enter the sangehirn (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040625c) class ASAP (7th level), then take the Mind Over Body feat as well.

At 4th level, this trick will eat up all your powers known. But that's practically all the powers you'll ever need for healing, so after 5th you can relax and do what you want. Eventually you'll probably want to enter sangehirn. It can't be entered as early as most other PrCs, so don't worry about trying to make a straight shot for it. Once you get access to 6th level powers you can nab mend wounds, which outclasses this trick entirely -- but you'll probably still want to keep around empathic transfer and body purification for dealing with ability damage.

If any damage gets past vigor, just rest for a night.

It may not be practical to rest for a night every time some damage gets past Vigor. As I understand, Age of Worms is a time-sensitive campaign. However, it is important to remember that you don't have to be at full HP when you set up camp.

That's not what I meant. Sorry if I was unclear. I meant, "if any damage gets past vigor, it'll probably be so little that it will be healed naturally by the next day."

The Divine Mind represents a theological argument from the 5th century.
Did you choose your deity, or did your deity choose you?
Obviously, your deity choose you, cause otherwise, you wouldn't even want to.
That being said, Divine Mind 1 is a reasonable dip, especially for the Marshall.
Look for a deity that has that nifty Diplomacy check trick in its Mantle.
With Substitute Powers from the Minds Eye article, you can pick "any" power.
And then the Amityville Horror growls: GET OUT !!

OTOH - If your deity has picked you to be the object of some weird teaching thingy it wants to do, play the Divine Mind to level 14. Have an Ardent make a Hustle link Hustle Twin (w/ dominant ideal) at-will item. Get a 1st level power link PsyRef item with PsyRef on one of your substitute power lists. Start most every battle with exactly the Aura you need, and combos of powers. Leadership for a Summoner Druid cohort - who is more powerful than you as of your 9th level, it's 6th level, but likes you anyway cause that's how Leadership works. All those move actions per round let you switch Auras as necessary. Its necessary.
Have fun.
