| AtsuiShoto10-02-07, 11:25 PM | I know the Complete Arcane provided some sudden metamagic feats that could be applied to spell-like abilities, and I know that magic-psionics transparency means those feats can apply to PLAs (right?) That said, for a campaign without transparency, are there any meta-psi options available in official sources? If not, it would have to be a house-rule (which may be fine; I got approval for the Phrenic template, after all) but I'm new to the group where this would be applicable, so I'd like official options only, if possible. |

Transparency only covers spells/powers that affect other spells/powers, and power/spell resistance. It does not cover feats. And there aren't any meta-PLA feats either. Due to the ways in which metapsi and psi-likes differ from metamagic and spell-likes, this is how I'd do meta-PLA feats: QUICKEN PSI-LIKE ABILITY [METAPSIONIC] Prerequisites: Any psi-like ability Benefit: To use this feat, you must expend your psionic focus. You can quicken a psi-like ability. Manifesting a quickened psi-like ability is a swift action which does not provoke attacks of opportunity. A psi-like ability whose manifesting time is longer than 1 round cannot be quickened. Using this feat decreases the manifester level of the psi-like abilty by 6. The ability's total manifester level must be at least the minimum level required to manifest the power or spell it is based on. |

| InkBlot10-05-07, 12:24 AM | My homebrew feat can be used as many times as you want. I had the feat require focus and lower your ML because I wanted it to work just like a normal metapsionic feat. If you're a 7th level human psion who knows energy ray and the quicken power feat, then you can manifest a 1d6 energy ray as a swift action by expending your focus and paying as many power points as a 7d6 energy ray would cost. If you're a 14th level dromite fighter who knows the quicken PLA feat, then you can manifest a 1d6 energy ray as a swift action by expending your focus and paying the same cost as a 7d6 energy ray. Balancing it this way is possible due to the you-get-what-you-pay-for nature of psionics. |
