Many if not all the lurk augments last for 1 round or the next attack.

So can you apply an augment on a

charge i.e. attack from a full round action?

Cleave or Great Cleave and thus hit more than one opponent with an augment

Whirlwind attack and affect more than 1 opponent?

By applying the feat Ranged Lurk Augment can you apply an augment to a

Crystal Shard (after you buy it with a feat)?

Many Shot?

Greater Manyshot (and thus all the arrows)?

------------

It seems plausible that if augments e.g. additional sneak attack; can be applied to a Great Cleave, Whirlwind Attack, Crystal Shard or Greater Manyshot the augment can do an incredible amount of damage.

What do you guys/gals think?

Feedback appreciated.

I don't have the book sitting right in front of me, but I think your first line answered your question.
"Initiating" the Lurk Augment takes the swift action for the round. Then you have to use it.
And it's your next attack. (unless the book says otherwise).

Later, when you take a Full Attack, let's say +15 and Lurk Aug on #1, +10 on #2, +5 on #3.

Manyshot - just the first shot of the Manyshot, same with Greater Manyshot
Crystal Shard - I hadn't considered that; I'll have to look; I'd give it a provisional absolute NO.

Additional Sneak Attack - If you can get more than one Swift Action in a round, you can get the first Lurk Aug on more than one Sneak in a round. Good luck with that one. { ... sychronicity , cough ... }

Overall, your prolly looking at optimizing the one Lurk Augment attack each round.
True Strike, would give you a +20 on that one attack, meaning it's not wasted.
No one's done a Teflammer Shadow Lord build, with Lurk as the base, and I don't have that book.

If you can find a way to apply Lurk Augments to more than one attack per round ... that'd be fun.

Yep, it's a swift action to charge a lurk augment. You get 1 swift action per round, unless you used an intimidate action.

Nope - 1 attack, then the augment is discharged, like a deep crystal weapon.

Whirlwind attack and affect more than 1 opponent?

Nope, after the first hit, it's discharged.

Yes, it's 1 attack.

Many Shot?

Yes, but only the first arrow.

Greater Manyshot (and thus all the arrows)?
Yep, they all use 1 attack roll, thus it's one attack, but since precision-based damage applies to each arrow fired, you get all those SA dice.

Actually, with Greater Manyshot, each arrow uses a separate attack roll, so this should work the same as Whirlwind Attack.

Blast, you are right!

Crystal shard seems to me to have great potential with an augment especially a sneak attack augment ie at 20th level you could be doing 34D6 and then some.

I'm still not quite convinced when an augment is applied or not on some things.

The rules state the augment is used for the NEXT ATTACK, so whatever form that attack takes (irrespective of a hit or miss), the augment should apply to it. Greater manyshot is one such example. Although you would role multiple dice (multiple attack roles) it still seems to be a singular attack that uses a standard action. An Attack Role may not always = to an actual attack.

The feat also states that any precision based damage (irrespective of source) IS applied to each arrow. So Greater Manyshot appears to be an interesting case.

Thinking about this issue furhter concerning a Lurk Augment and a multi attack like Manyshot; where all your attacks are your next attack mechanically it could only work one of 2 ways.

In the case of Greater Manyshot you would either have to designate the arrow with the augment in advance (not very fair) or apply the augment to every arrow as the next attack is a multi simultaneous attack.

For me this seems a difficult issue to judge. So further feedback is welcome.

Why no replies?

The Lurk is perhaps the best core class in Complete Psionic and is perhaps the most flexible of the combat based psions.

There is a problem with how the Lurk Augments interact with some feats; at least in interpretation.

This should be very discussion worthy.
