| Poodle12-13-07, 01:41 AM | Hi sorry to bother but I was wondering if anyone knew of any monsters/races that had an equivalent ability to the spells ability like the planetars ability to cast spells as a 17th level cleric spells |
| InkBlot12-13-07, 01:50 AM | There are creatures who get racial psionic abilities. For example, the unbodied have a power point reserve and manifest powers as if they were 4th level telepaths. That's the only one I recall, off the top of my head. |
| calronmoonflower12-13-07, 02:26 AM | Mind Flayer, Psionic The have the manifesting ability of a 9th level telepath. |
| Poodle12-13-07, 03:10 AM | lol i forgot about mindflayers, i don`t suppose anyone knows of any more ? |
| Bacris12-13-07, 09:49 AM | I can think of some that are in some 3rd party products, but not sure if you're looking for those of if you're just looking for WotC material. I don't think The Mind's Eye had any for 3.5, although I think the 3.0 gem dragons they created did, didn't they? |
| CrimsonDeath12-13-07, 01:11 PM | I don't think The Mind's Eye had any for 3.5, although I think the 3.0 gem dragons they created did, didn't they? Yes, they did. I remember the Sapphire dragons could manifest as Nomads. Not sure about the other types. I mean, I know the other types had manifesting as though they were psions, but I forgot what their primary disciplines were. |
| Vharuck12-13-07, 02:31 PM | Also psionic aboleths, but they're also just an option presented in the XPH. There aren't many monsters that act like they had levels in a psionic class is because WotC knows a lot of gamers don't use psionics, but every group (except the rare few trying something out of the norm) uses arcane and divine spellcasting. |
| calronmoonflower12-14-07, 02:57 AM | lol i forgot about mindflayers, i don`t suppose anyone knows of any more ? Elder Brain, Psionic If I remember correctly they manifest as a 20th level telepath. |
| RavinRay12-14-07, 04:22 AM | I remember the Sapphire dragons could manifest as Nomads. Not sure about the other types. Amethyst, psychokinesis (kineticist) Crystal, telepathy (telepath) Emerald, clairsentience (seer) Sapphire, psychoportation (nomad) Topaz, psychometabolism (egoist) Obsidian, metacreativity (shaper) |
| TheKeyofE12-14-07, 10:19 AM | Amethyst, psychokinesis (kineticist) Crystal, telepathy (telepath) Emerald, clairsentience (seer) Sapphire, psychoportation (nomad) Topaz, psychometabolism (egoist) Obsidian, metacreativity (shaper) Where's the obsidian dragon from? It's not in MM2 with the rest. Also, Obsidian isn't a crystal. It's basically glass, which has no rigid molecular structure, so I don't see how it fits with the others. |
| Fafnir12-14-07, 10:44 AM | Where's the obsidian dragon from? It's not in MM2 with the rest. Also, Obsidian isn't a crystal. It's basically glass, which has no rigid molecular structure, so I don't see how it fits with the others. It's from the Mind's Eye. And it doesn't fit... obsidian are rogue gem dragons. :D |
| RavinRay12-15-07, 12:04 AM | Fafnir took the words out of my mouth. Since obsidian is a glass not a mineral, itt is only appropriate that the obsidian dragon is the only rogue gem dragon, being NE (like I consider the LN/LG steel dragon the only rogue metallic dragon because steel is an alloy of the metal Fe and the non-metal C, and the flightless brown dragon as the only rogue chromatic dragon as brown encompasses a wide variety of colors). |
| CrimsonDeath12-15-07, 12:26 AM | Thank you, RavinRay. I really like the symmetry there. One rogue Chromatic, one rogue Metallic, and one rogue Gemstone, with each rogue slightly outside the concept that ties the group together. |
| The_Mess12-15-07, 01:57 AM | Don't all colors encompass a variety of colors? I mean, there's blue and there's blue and there's blue and there's blue... Seems a bit weak for brown. I'd have made the rogue chromatic dragon white, the color that isn't a color, but I suppose that was taken, as was black. Grey could be argued, but it would be hard to justify grey as an exception with black and white being "in". Hmm, a challenge. |
| CrimsonDeath12-15-07, 02:14 AM | Plaid? |
| calronmoonflower12-15-07, 02:41 AM | Logos dragons manifest as a psion. They even get to choose different among the types. Pathos dragons as a wilder. Both are from Untapped Potential. |
