Am I reading this right?

Based on your psychic warrior level, your bite increases in ferocity as noted here: at 5th level your bite deals an extra 1d8 points of damage, at 10th level an extra 2d8, at 15th level an extra 3d8, and at 20th level an extra 4d8 points.

So, this flies in the face of everything claws of the beast does, right? No augmentation is listed for this power. Now, I know it requires a standard action to manifest and only lasts for 1 minute per level, but why does it break the mold like this?

Partly because it's a single attack and if the psychic warrior uses other attacks with it, the bite is forced to be a secondary attack. This means that you're forced to take a -5 penalty on it and use it with only half your Strength bonus, unless you choose to make it your only attack that round.

I don't know why it autoscales, only that it (and Energy Adaptation's two versions) does, unlike other powers. The odd part is that it explicitly scales with PSYCHIC WARRIOR levels, unlike all other powers which reference manifester level. I can only assume that odd part is a typo that slipped past errata (like the PrC text on psicrystals).

Telekinetic Thrust autoscales in a way. "Each object or creature can be hurled a maximum distance of 10 feet per level." So if you're using the power to toss creatures into the air, the damage autoscales.
