Tugg 01-07-08, 03:09 PM	Ok so i'm having some trouble understanding bladewind. It says each fragment of the mind blade is identical to the soulknifes regular mindblade. Does that mean you can apply psychic strike and/or psionic weapon to each of the attacks you make? Muchos thanks to anyone that can help.
InkBlot 01-07-08, 03:41 PM	You can't apply Psionic Weapon to each attack. Psionic Weapon applies to one attack when you expend your psionic focus, but with Bladewind you're making up to 8 attacks (if you're medium and things aren't flying above/below you). In order to apply it to each attack, you'd have to expend your psionic focus for each attack. Since you only have one psionic focus (two if you have Psicrystal Containment), it is clearly impossible to use Psionic Weapon with all of your attacks. As for Psychic Strike, good luck. There's a lot of little things like this concerning the Soulknife, and not many of them have been answered by WotC or Bruce Cordell. The questions that have been answered, have always been answered in a way that is worse for the Soulknife. Psychic Strike is stored in your mindblade, not in your mind. Each mindblade you have can hold it's own charge of Psychic Strike, if you take a move action to charge it up separately (Complete Psionic clarified this). The extra mindblades you make with Bladewind don't exist long enough for you to charge them up. The only way you could make a Psychic Strike with them is if the word "identical" includes the charge you put in the original mindblade. From there, it's up to you and your DM to work out together. I interpret the rules, generally, in the way that works best for the Soulknife. So I'd allow psychic strike with every blade in the bladewind, if your mindblade was charged beforehand.
Tugg 01-07-08, 03:53 PM	Good point about the psionic weapon, didn't think of that. By RAW it seemed to me that psychic strike would apply to each attack, but i wasn't sure whether it has been erratered or something, i'll run it by my DM see what she thinks. Thanks alot :D
SlanderPanic 01-09-08, 01:17 PM	I've always played it as having the psychic strike only apply to the first successful hit you score with bladewind. (I tend to pick a starting point and roll my attacks one at a time, since different monsters may have different ACs and I really don't want to keep track of which d20 goes to which opponent.) Now, if you have the Mind Cleave feat (CPsi) and happen to drop that opponent, the next opponent you hit also takes a psychic strike and so on down the line. This is why it's good to start with the weakest-looking creature and work your way up. Also, for added fun, soulknife 9/war mind 5 allows you to combine bladewind and sweeping strike. Again, I'd only apply the psychic strike damage to one opponent, but you can overlay attacks without any trouble. In other words, psychic strike monster A and do regular damage to monster B. If monster A drops, psychic strike monster B and do regular damage to monster C, and so on.
