The tabel seems to indicate that it only affects medium creatures, but nowhere in the power does it say that. What I mean is, does the power affect a medium creature, and you an only augment it to the size on the tabel, or does it affect oup to the size on the tabel, and you can augment it upwards beyond that? Do Freedom of Movement protect you from a Stasis Cocoon? It does try to stop you, but it's a Will save..... and if it doesn't protect you, what spells does? |

It very clearly says "*If Augmented" on all of the cocoons larger than medium size, so yes you have to augment them to get to that size. Freedom of movement also very clearly says it allows the subject to move normally even if under the influence of a spell which normally restricts movement. If Stasis Cocoon restricts movement and your DM says psionic powers are the same as spells then yes, Freedom of Movement would invalidate the power's movement restrictions. |
| CrimsonDeath07-26-07, 07:37 PM | Interesting... Would Freedom of Movement simply negate Stasis Coccoon, or would it merely allow you to move but still leave the other effects of the power in place? |

It doesn't negate spells/powers, it simply allows you to move normally. If the only effect of a spell is to stop your movement, it will essentially be negated. But if its a power which grapples you and does cold damage to everyone in the area, for example, you would not be grappled but you would take the damage as normal. |

Well it keeps the creature in stasis, ala. the Temporal Stasis, except the body leech can still harm the creature. |

| forsaken111107-27-07, 03:42 AM | Well now, I am the DM, and want to make a fair ruling so.... I would say, then, that you should rule freedom of movement ineffective vs temporal stasis effects for two reasons. 1. It DOES keep the person from moving, but only because it stops all time flow. So even if you could move normally, no time is passing for you so you never have the opportunity. 2. Temporal Stasis is an 8th level spell, Freedom of Movement is a 4th level spell. |

Well I would say you where right when it comes to Temporal Stasis, but what about the Greater Stasis Cocoon, that generates Ectoplasma around you, to stop you and keep you in stasis? and if FOM doesn't help, what will protect you against this power? Except being Gargantuan or bigger. |

Except being Gargantuan or bigger. The stasis cocoon power states that the creature cannot act so FoM would not help. Stasis Cocoon isn't restricting movement its taking away his ability to take any action through a similar method as temporal stasis. What would protect someone: Spell Turning, Power/Spell Resistance, Immunity to Psionics/Magic (Like a golem), Timeless Body, Spell/Power Reflection effects. |
| Man-Rata07-27-07, 05:44 AM | Well FoM also hinders Paralysis, which also stops you acting. And it is only a level 5 power, it's basically a 'Will Save' power that kills and which has no foolproof protection of the same level, or close to. Compare it to Hold Monster or Psychic Crush which both have way of stopping them, the one you can stop with FoM the other with DW or similar. |
| forsaken111107-27-07, 05:47 AM | Indeed, but there's no way RAW to adjudicate that. It sounds to me from the flavor of stasis cocoon that it affects you similar to temporal stasis in that it locks your body in stasis. This is why I said its really up to the DM. |
