Can Dominate be used to make a victim fight his friends? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-09-07, 11:53 AM The question is in the title. The reason I'm wondering is because of this clause: "Obviously self-destructive orders are not carried out."

So if my character spots a band of guards, can she or can she not dominate them into fighting eachother?

03-09-07, 12:05 PM "Obviously self-destructive" orders are orders like jumping into lava or acid. You can actually get someone to fight their allies using Charm Person, although it is only for non-lethal damage, or at least that's what I rule. Dominate, you pretty much take away all free will, so they will fight their allies if you command them to.

03-12-07, 10:45 AM Not much battle-worthy ability if Dominate doesn't work like that. That's pretty much the only reason most of my players even consider dominate. Think of it this way: Charm makes them a friend, Dominate makes them a slave. They will do anything that falls into that area. None of that includes suicide, sadly.
