Hi,

one more question:
the power clairvoyant sense seems to have no range limit.
But: what is "obvious"?

a) Can my psion position the sensor "on King Arthurs round table" even if I have never seen that and its 7000 miles away?
b) Can I position the sensor on "the peak of that mountain over there in 10 miles" (mountain can be seen).
c) Can I position it "100 yards upwards"?

I personally would read the entry in the way that the sensor can go everywhere where I can uniquely and without doubt specify the precise target.
That would allow all of the above uses.

Opinions?

a) The way I've always interpreted "a place familiar to you or an obvious one" is that you've either been there, you know a lot about it (maybe your character has read about King Arthur's round table in books), or it's in the immediate vicinity and you can guess intuitively (as the examples in the power description imply).
In other words, no, not unless you've heard a lot of stories or have read a lot books about it.

b) Yes.

c) Yes.

I've always interpretted as being someplace you could guess the location of relative to where you are, or where you have been.

So if a year ago you were riding past king Arthur's castle, and your bard friend pointed out the tower in which king Arthur holds court at his round table, then you could manifest a psychic sensor roughly above the round table. If you had rode past without your bard friend then you would have had to guess at the room in which the round table resides, but you could still manifest a psychic sensor within the castle (perhaps rolling for Knowledge [Nobility and Royalty] or Knowledge [Archetecture and Engineering]).

Lets say you obtained blueprints of the king Arthur's castle, and a map showing that the castle is 20 miles north by north-west of your current location. In this case you could manifest your psychic sensor inside any place inside or outside the castle. You wouldn't be able to say "inside the throneroom" because you couldn't know for sure which room king Arthur was using for that, but you could make a good guess at it and manifest the sensor in that room.

If you had never seen king Arthur's castle before, and only had a rough idea of which direction it lays in, then you could use your clairvoyant senses to see it in steps. First, you manifest the sensor in the very obvious location "500 feet in the air, 20 miles north." Through the sensor, you see a castle to the west. You manifest another sensor "100 feet above that castle I just saw." Even if you can't name the exact distance, human minds are instinctively capable of judging distance, which is crucial for using this power. The sensor opens above the castle, and you see the layout of towers and walls. You guess that the large room in the center, with all the fancy stained glass windows, must be king Arthur's throne room. You close this sensor, and open one "within that big room right there, just under the ceiling." The next sensor opens practically inside a chandelier. You can't see anything. You remanifest "10 feet lower." You guessed right. Now you can see and hear the goings-on of king Arthur's court. This method cost you 12 power points, but it worked despite you not being familiar with the castle, and the throne room not being a place which was initialy obvious to you.

It'll be kind of fun to use teleport rules!

That's exactly why I took it with Expanded Knowledge for my favourite nomad. It's particularly good if you're a race with darkvision.
