So i get the impression that it isn't what these readers wanted from the WotC/Hasbro collective.

What would have made it better?

Less redundant material.
Better Editing.
Better Flavor.
Better playtesting.
More material for the XPH classes.
Less divine/psionic overlap.
No unneeded nerfs.

I think that should be a good start.

they could also have answered the questions that we actually *did* want answered (and which those who don't use third party material are *still* waiting for). that would have been nice. and if they're going to make us pay for errata, the least they can do is errata/clarify/fix things that need to be errated/clarified/fixed.

in other words, to sum it all up: they could have read the boards, read all the posts about what we (the customers who had already invested in the XPH and were therefore the most likely to invest in CPsi) had been requesting for years. instead, we have to rely on third party publishers to do that. i just don't understand how wizards can be sitting on a veritable goldmine of market research (ie the forums) and yet somehow manage to completely miss the mark.

Ditto kyeudo. Also, less redundancy. Did we really need 4 different "Turn your mindblade into a different exotic weapon" feats? What's wrong with "Exotic Mindblade: Shape your mindblade into one exotic weapon chosen when you take this feat"? Same again with all the racial feats giving you more uses of your psionic-like abilities.

Mind you, I still think it's worth getting.

Maybe they avoid reading the forums to avoid "You stole my idea!" issues. I know other companies have a policy whereby their authors are forbidden from reading related Internet sites so that they can safely create the "Ultramegaboom" spell without having two million irate fanboys claiming they were ripped off.

Go to it!"

Although, given Wizards' Open Licensing Agreement, anything posted on their forums becomes their property, so they can come in here, pick through cool homebrews, and then publish what they like, with no fear of forum-ites claiming theft of intellectual property. That's why you don't see anything except open game legal material from UTP on here, because of the agreement Wizards has running.

I would have preferred some "make your mind blade better" feats. Give a couple of feats that specifically improve the damage or critical range and you've covered the basic benefits granted by half the exotic weapons anyway.
