Concealing Amorpha
Metacreativity (Creation)
Level: Psion/wilder 2, psychic warrior 2
Display: Material; see text
Manifesting Time: 1 standard action
Range: 0 ft.
Effect: Quasi-real amorphous film centered on you
Duration: 1 min./level (D)
Power Points: 3

Using concealing amorpha, you weave a quasi-real membrane around yourself. You remain visible within the translucent, amorphous enclosure. This distortion grants you concealment (opponents have a 20% miss chance), thanks to the rippling membrane encasing your form. You can pick up or drop objects, easily reaching through the film. Anything you hold is enveloped by the amorpha. Likewise, you can engage in melee, make ranged attacks, and manifest powers without hindrance.

I just noticed something about Concealing Amorpha, you don't cast it on yourself, you cast it on your area.

Does that mean it does not move with you? It would make the power a lot less troublesome for me a DM.

Read the text carefully: Using concealing amorpha, you weave a quasi-real membrane around yourself .

So it moves with you but is around you.

Well I never says that, if you cast it on your square, you still have it around yourself.

It should have range: personal if it affected you, but it has range 0.

If it did not move with you it would be 'centered on a point in space'. Points in space do not move. Characters do, thus the amorpha does as well. The range, in this case, I believe, refers to the fact that the amorpha does not extend around the manifester, but grants concealment only to him/her.

Globe of Invulnerability, Lesser
Abjuration
Level: Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: 10 ft.
Area: 10-ft.-radius spherical emanation, centered on you
Duration: 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

Try comparing it to Globe of Invulerability, it has almost same entry.

Every other spell that has a Range: 0 ft. is creation spells/powers, minor creation, call steed, call weaponry, flame blade, teleportation circle etc.

The only spell I can find with a similar effect is Globe, and that is cast on an area no on the person. And because it's cast like that, it is immovable.

It's Centered on You. If You moves, then the Center Moves. Simple as that, really.

Why is this power troublesome for DMs? The effect it generates is almost identicle to the 2nd level wizard spell Blur. If you can handle someone casting Blur, you should be able to handle someone using this.

Since Psions don't create Illusions, they had to come up with an alternate mechanism to explain the effect granted (concealment). They decided to make it a creation effect, and describe it as a quasi-real membrane.

The reason I have trouble with it is that theres is no way for magic to counter it, True Seeing doesn't cancel it, so the only way not to miss with 20%/50% of your attacks against a higher level psychic Warrior or Psion is single use spells and powers like True Strike, which is personal and therefore don't benefit the fighters.

Yes you can dispell, but PC's generally meet lowerlevel mobs, and they have little chance of dispelling.

Your fighting mobs with True Seeing that can't manage to get a dispeller? I call shenanigans.

The mobs are MUCH less likely to have True Seeing to negate Blur, then they are to have someone using one of the strongest spells in the game (dispel magic) to negate others.

You can always just Fireball the guy using Concealing Amorpha. He is not invisible, or even truly hidden, just standing in a large semi-opaque ectoplasmic soap bubble. You know exactly what space he is standing in.

You know I've been using Greater Concealing Amorpha basically as displacement... but seeing as it's a Metacreativity power would a Dragon's blindsight be able to pierce the concealment???

...Nevermind, I can answer that myself. They could still sense me. :(
