| M305-14-07, 04:35 PM | Could I target myself and fight with a psionically enhanced ability? My int is much greater then my str and dex. Is this a good option?? Has anyone used this with much success? Thanks Control Body Psychokinesis Level: Kineticist 4 Display: Material Manifesting Time: 1 standard action Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) Target: One Medium or smaller creature with humanoid physiology Duration: Concentration, up to 1 min./level Saving Throw: Fortitude negates Power Resistance: Yes Power Points: 7 You psychokinetically control the actions of any humanoid (including undead or outsiders with a humanoid physiology) that is within range and to which you have line of sight. Control body doesn’t require mental contact with the subject, since you are actually forcing limb movements independent of the target’s mind. You can force the subject to stand up, sit down, walk, turn around, and so on, but operating the vocal cords is too difficult. You can also hold the subject immobile, rendering it helpless. You cannot force the subject to manifest powers, cast spells, or use any special ability that is not a function of just its body movements. If you lose line of sight to the subject, the effect of this power ends. If you force the subject to engage in combat, its attack bonus is equal to your base attack bonus + your Intelligence bonus, and its bonus on damage rolls is equal to your Intelligence bonus. A subject of this power cannot make attacks of opportunity. The subject gains no benefit to Armor Class from its Dexterity, but it does gain a bonus to its AC equal to your Intelligence bonus. Although the subject’s body is under your control, the subject’s mind is not. Creatures capable of taking purely mental actions (such as manifesting powers) can do so. |

Has anyone used this with much success?Yep. It's a common trick if you've got it and need to fight physically. Consider also the Solicit Psicrystal power or Expanded Knowledge (Schism); have the psicrystal or the schism-mind manifest and concentrate on this power. This effectively gives you everything Control Body does but still allows you to manifest fully-powered powers at the same time. |
| M305-14-07, 06:02 PM | Oh very nice... I like that combo... I am playing a Slayer and could benefit well from that...Great suggestion... |
| ravidubey05-14-07, 07:59 PM | It's a good idea and as a DM I would allow it but would require the manifester to make a DC 12 wisdom check to be able to successfully resist using his own muscles. Failure would mean a -2 circumstance penalty to attack. |

Good Idea regarding Schism, but it takes a move equivalent action to direct your psicrystal to do anything new even with Solicit Psicrystal, so you could direct the psicrystal to make you attack, but you could only attack with a standard action that way. Of course it would take at least one feat for a psion to learn both Schism and Control Body. |
| PhaedrusXY05-14-07, 08:27 PM | Ravidubey... are you anyone's DM who's posting here? If not, we don't care about your house rules. |
| FatMonkey1305-15-07, 01:13 PM | Remember that there are some drawbacks. 1. You must maintain concentration, so if you get hurt you have to make a check 2. You do not get attacks of opportunity These are not too bad |
| Mesiolan05-15-07, 01:37 PM | Further, if you are made to attack or run by your schism mind, you might be forced to make concentration checks vs. vigorous motions while manifesting. But DC 10 or 15 should not be a problem for any psion of that level. BTW if you are using Solicit Psicrystal, do you get YOUR INT bonus to AC and attacks, or the INT-modifier of the crystal? My DM thinks so, for the crystal controls your body. |

My DM thinks so, for the crystal controls your body.Yours. You manifested the power, the psicrystal is just using its actions to maintain it. If I were to pass along a save-every-round power (i.e. Energy Current) to my psicrystal, it's still the same power I manifest, despite the psicrystal concentrating on it for me. This means it still has the same DC -- and in the case of Control Body, it still refers to YOUR ability scores, as you manifest it. |

Failure would mean a -2 circumstance penalty to attack. If he were to manifest the power on someone else, would you allow that person a check to impose penalties on the actions he was being forced to make? It seems unfair to do one and not the other, and neither is mentioned in the power description... |
| Lionhearted05-25-07, 09:33 PM | This is ... BRILLIANT! I love the concept, totally adores it, lemme give you a que of what i had in mind Even if he quite dont fill his plate as well as many other warriors do. His stern, determinated gaze tells that something beyond what the eye can conceive lies within him. With a serene expression he put his hands together and closes his eyes, only for a split second. Then a slight jerk runs down his neck, his vision crystallizes and as he set into motion. His body seem to move with unnatural precision and quickness .In one fluid movement he pulls his sword out and lashes forward, putting his body into a impossible position similar to lifting and dropping a ragdoll, although his sword strikes true, and he is instantly back at his feet, jerked from the ground as something pulled him. Without as much as blinking he dogdes attacks by bending his back into a complete circle then returning to his upright position, Twisting his torso in a semicircle , instantly going into a split or some other seemingly impossible movements, Suddenly his eyes turn vivid green, the opponent flinches, frozen into position, without hesitation he puts his sword against the creatures throat and calmly states “It’s over” I think im going to try to make a really fluffy PrC outta this |
