This is kinda a cross-post from the d20 Modern board, but I'm not getting anything over there, and this is a slightly differnet question anyway.

Anyway, I'm going to be running a sorta-X-files-like game using d20 Dark*Matter, and I need something of a stunted psionics system for it. I'm thinking a skills-and-feats sorta thing might fit the bill. Does anyone know of any thing like that that I might be able to adapt? I'm basically trying to avoid building the whole system myself from the ground up.

Expanded Psionics For D20 Modern (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=732063)

It's been a very long time since I read that thread, so I don't remember exactly how good it is. IIRC, it still used different manifesting stat for each discipline, but was otherwise a very good system. So just change it so each class uses only one stat, and you should be good to go. It's based on the Expanded Psionics Handbook.

Star Wars: Saga Edition's rules for the Force would probably work brilliantly. (Hell, you've got a designer's eye, Blaine; I'm certain you'd appreciate Saga for other reasons as well.)

It's sort of a cross between the best of skills-and-feats (a la the old Star Wars system) and the Tome of Battle, all streamlined for ease of play.

That is, of course, if you don't want to use the XPH converted to D20 Modern in my sig.

Nerdvanna has an excellent skill and feat system Here. (http://www.nazro.net/Nerdvana-SnF-Psionics.zip)

There isn't an SRD for it, by any chance, is there? Because the only gaming shop I know of near my home is closed for renevations or something and my Borders, while having a pretty good D&D section, is really light on everything else.

That is, of course, if you don't want to use the XPH converted to D20 Modern in my sig.Oh I do, but not for this campaign.

Nerdvanna has an excellent skill and feat system Here. (http://www.nazro.net/Nerdvana-SnF-Psionics.zip)Good example of what I'm looking for. I think what I need is like that, but less detailed, if you take my meaning. The Cultist never actually knows much about magic; she sorta stumbles upon scrolls and other items in her research. I'm not sure how to mirrior that with psionics; obviously, it would kinda suck if he only got power stones (what kind of psychic is that?), so I think instead he should have severe drawbacks for using powers (like fatigue, nonlethal damage, that sort of thing), and his options should be limited (divination and such make a lot of sense for this kind of campaign, though they would have to be spotty at best; Dark*Matter is all about conspiracies within conspiracies, so divination unchecked would be 0_0).

Aaaaand I'm rambling. I guess what I'm trying to say is I plan on looking through the PDFs and scavenging.

I believe there's a supplement from another company that is a feat- and skill-based psychic system. (I can never remember, can things like that be named?) Feats grant access, the various powers are skills, and using them has a negative side effect (GM's pick of nonlethal damage, save vs. fatigue, points, etc.).

Funnily enough, another guy on another forum asked about the system I'll point - have you heard about a guy called Kenneth Hood, or his Sleeping Imperium setting? The best of his work, IMO, was exactly the skill- and feat-based psionics system: while he sort of admitted he didn't care about balance (and thus the combat uses may require changes), the "story" abilities offered are very cool, and, by the way, pretty much everything has story-based drawbacks (not specific to the setting; I mean "story-based" as in "not strictly numerical"), which might help with uncommon usage you want..

So, I'll drop you an e-mail as soon as I get home, pick the material I have, get somewhere with Internet access again. Anybody else interested, just tell me.

P.S.: I think I heard that some third-party product was based on Ken's work on psionics.
