Is it just me, or is this PrC (in Dragon Magic) really, REALLY good for a Psion?

-Easy entry reqs (Psion 6), with Alignment being the most restrictive.
-D8 HP, Rogue BAB, 2 Good Saves!
-Minor Physical Stat Boost
-basically free powers (Fly, weaker claws/tail of the beast, situationally useful Energy Missile)
-8/10 ML

Obviously this was made for the PsyWarrior, but I think Psions get just as much mileage out of it as a Psion 15/Diamond Dragon 5 or Psion 5/Anarchic Initiate 10/Diamond Dragon 5.

You'd get more out a Psion/Slayer Gish build I'd think.
The claws are ok, but that also means you are a caster in melee.
The stat boosts to CON are a bonus (what full manifestor gets it to STR or DEX?)
The wings are basically Fly, Psionic (IIRC) for "free"

PS:
Anarchiac Initiate is broken.

I get all wal-mart smiley faced :) over the second level class feature.

@ ~7th level: 1pp semi-schism that augments better than any other melee power.
oooh ... and it stacks with schism.

lets see , where's Haldrik's best powers list - melee suicide - so what.
the rest of the class gets a *meh* from me ,
but that's someone elses schtick ;)

Only problem is the bab loss , i.e. can't do an Ardent gish and get bab +19 , wah ...
still get those full 8+9'ers going.

IMO the PrC sucks compared to the cleric equivilent in the same book (Swift Wing I think?).
The cleric one gets his wings sooner, and gets to activate them as a swift action, no duration whatso ever and I beleive it has a faster speed. The only thing the Diamand Dragon has that is better, is his wings which are perfect maneaverability. But the cleric can easily pick up that feat that increase the fly speed maneaverability by one, making it perfect.
But my main beef about the class is its durations for it's abilities. All of them last for 1 minute per manifester level, not to mention they also cost power points to activate each one.
Granted, the PP costs are not that high, but the duration of the abilities make it costly over the long run.
It's a nice class (easily one of my favs), but the durations should be 1 hour per level or at the least 10 minutes per level.

Well, I'm not that impressed. The "free" powers compensate more or less for the 2 manifester levels you learn, unless you're a wilder or some such. It has some minor boosts... but I can't say it's that impressive. If you're a full-time psion, you get a higher manifesting level, ultimately the same number of powers known, more PP, and 2 more psionic feats. It's okay-ish, as every manifesting class gets something out of it, but it pales to transparency compared to the Slayer. Perhaps if you have a separate manifesting progression or some such it could be more useful.

It is a cool PRC, that and that Knight PRC from the Lords of Madness (don't have it here right now and can't think of the name). Those 2 almost make a Psion meele worthy.

I believe you refer to Sanctified Mind.

The Topaz Guardian does not advance psionics.

More on that 2nd level class feature :
{ ... did I just say moron about myself ... }

Claw of the Beast but slighty better , initially.
Half an O-Prescience , but 'augments' faster.
O-Precognition and 'augments' faster.
Extra action is a less weildy schism , but build-able.

commentary : If this was a 5th level PsyWar power , even at full cost , I'd still take it.
since it's coming in late , with a cost , it's not out-of-line.

An Ardent w/ practised -fester wouldn't notice the 1 -fester level loss.
I'm saying level 2 or 4 on a dip.

Goodness no not the Topaz junk, the Sanctified Mind was the one I was talking about. I just don't have my LoM here right now and couldnt rember the name.

If you're a Psion I'd stop at 5, to get the 2nd physical stat boost. D8 HP also the average equivalent of 10 extra HP over a Psion.

Psion/Diamond Dragon/Slayer would probably be a good build.

eeehh ... :(
I don't know.
Lose a -fester level and a BAB
and one stat boost vs. Metamophosis.
I'd rather keep the level and the BAB ,
and get to Metamoph sooner / better.

Psion 5 / DD 2 / Slayer 9 / +1BAB 2 / +1BAB 2
in some order other than i just wrote w/ pratised manifester
Ardent 5 / DD 2 / +1BAB 2 / 2 more into DD or something else / Slayer 9
Slayer last w/ Ardent gets full 8+9s if yer careful

Another idea is Lurk.

Lurk 9 with the feat that increases the class feature by 2 levels.
OK , one stab attack gets you PP , potentially lots of them , but its capped.
with DD 2 and later a schism , up and running ...
the stab PP to out-flow PP ratio should/could be pretty close.

Can you say PP recharge-o-rama without BestowPower or feats ?!

Might top out Lurk or +2 levels for Lurk 11 , retrain the feat into something useful.
oh yeah , Psi-/magic transparency is yummy.
