| InkBlot08-24-07, 01:47 PM | More likely than you think.* This is one of the images distributed by WotC on flash drives to promote 4th Edition. (http://www.enworld.org/images/4e/4ecleric.jpg) This is the iconic Divine Mind. (http://www.wocstudios.com/warrior.htm) *Still not very likely. |
| Bukowski08-24-07, 02:03 PM | It's a 4E cleric picture. They just finally admitted that Dante (I think that's the 'iconic div mind' name) is a cleric with wild talent and the Bad Fluff domain that grants him a DiabloII paladin aura. |
| rampant08-24-07, 02:11 PM | I dunno, Looking at the what they are saying about the classes having the option to choose racially specific options, one can tentaviley assume that there will be non-race specific options. Thus it is not beyond the scope of possibility that many of our favorite classes from 3.5 can be recreated to a degree by careful selection of abilities. For example The divine mind is very similar to the psychic warrior. By selecting the proper powers you can replicate the mantles rather easily. The auras might be more dificult but mayhap the Writers will put something in along those lines when they create the options for the 4e psychic warrior analogue. If not I'm certain something could be homebrewed. Now without knowing more about 4e I can't say much, but it looks like we'll still be able to play divine minds and warmages, we'll just need to get a little creative. |
| Kurama Youko08-25-07, 10:16 AM | yeah i was gonna say the samething the last person said. It would seem more like the Psychic Warrior will be the base class and one of his optional paths of growth will open up abilities similiar to the divine mind. |

| InkBlot08-25-07, 11:33 AM | I'm surprised anyone is taking this seriously. Maybe I should have captioned the picture and posted it in the Psionic Motivators thread instead. edit: The psionic auras were cool, and I hope they have something like that in 4th, but the divine mind can die die die. |
| protosswarrior08-28-07, 09:46 PM | i think we all know that psionics will be in 4th edition, it's been in everyone so far except 1st and has gained quite a following. the question is will it be core or supplement. as for the divine mind, i personally thinks it's just a poor substitute for a divine caster such as a cleric, favored soul, or druid. but hey, it's just one guy's opinion, no need to pay attention to it. |
| rampant08-28-07, 10:11 PM | It wasn't supposed to be compared to the the cleric. It's the psionic Marshall. |
| Kurama Youko08-29-07, 01:57 AM | then it kicks the living stuff out of the marshal, now that class might have paved the way but he was all kinds of crap to me. |

Psionic was there in first edition too, I believe. |

Dude, that is how the new edition works. They pit a Psychic Warrior and Divine Mind in a Cave with a weapon + seal it up. And later check to see who is left. Ranger already did this to Scout (they said exactly that). It is possible when they introduce Psychic Warrior he killed the Divine Mind and looted his stuff. |
| InkBlot08-29-07, 04:38 PM | Just so long as he didn't take the Divine Mind's religion. |
| Kurama Youko08-29-07, 07:37 PM | come to think of it, I'm not a huge fan of the ardents either. |
| InkBlot08-29-07, 10:14 PM | Wait... you like the divine mind, but you don't like the ardent? That is an interesting position. I would like to learn more about your thoughts on this topic and have a hearty discussion. |
| Kurama Youko08-29-07, 10:23 PM | i never said i liked the divine mind, but i did say it kicked the crap out of the marshal. As to why I don't like the ardent, well thats as simply as its mechanics. If its one thing to have selective power acquisition but the way it works for ardent is more cumbersome to me. The only striction on when which mantles you have to take first or second and the limitations in terms of options they provide is very annoying. |
| InkBlot08-29-07, 11:14 PM | They way they wrote it out in the book was very confusing. I misintepretted it myself, until I ran a game and a player wanted to play an ardent. He figured it out and showed it to me. It's simple, once you manage to decipher those poorly edited paragraphs. An Ardent can't have more powers from his secondary mantles than he has from his primary mantles. I don't find it cumbersome, but I could see it being annoying. When I consider Ardent builds, I only consider the primary mantles. I just say to myself "I'm going to take practically all of my powers from these two mantles." I only consider powers from the secondary mantles later, if there's any room left after choosing all the powers I want off of the primary mantles. |
