Do my bonuses from items carry over to my undead shell when I use Stygian Dominion? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Hey guys.

My deathless Psion character will soon be able to summon a horde of undead minions once he reaches his next level, and he is currently researching the Stygian Dominion power from the CPsi Death Mantle (yes I hate the book too, but this was the only power I actually liked from it). He plans to take control of one of his servants, and stick his normal body/corpse into his Bag of Holding for safe keeping. This brings up a number of questions I need help with.

1. Would he keep the bonuses from magic items his main body currently has on? To be specific, would he keep his bonus power points and bonus to save DCs from his Headband of Intellect +4, or his ability to control twice as many undead from his Rod of Undead Mastery, or would he need to transfer these items over to his shell?

2. If he needs to transfer his Rod of Undead Mastery to his shell, would he lose control of half his undead minions while he don't have the rod in his hands?

3. If his shell is slain while his body is in his Bag of Holding does it count as being in range, or does he die because his body is technically in a pocket dimension, even though the Bag of Holding is hanging from his waist?

4. He is technically a CN (with good tendencies) deathless skeleton, so if he possesses an undead's corpse is he still considered deathless, or does he now count as an undead? It is important, because it determines if our healer can still cure him by normal means.

5. If he is controlled or rebuked by a cleric while in his proxie what happens? Is only his undead shell affected, or is he himself affected due to being deathless in his natural form/body?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I forgot to ask If I could manifest Stygian Dominion again while I am in my undead shell, in order to take over another of my minions during a battle. Basically, can I jump from undead to undead if my shell's HP starts to get low?

I only have some ideas for some of the answers, but here it goes:

1. I'm pretty certain no, when he gains control of a new body that is considered his body for all purposes except what happens when that body dies. He'd have to wear the items on his new body to gain the benefits.

2. No idea on this one. Although most items stop functioning while no longer in your possession so by strict reading - yes, most likely.

3. A Bag of Holding is just what you said, a pocket dimension (ie: another plane). This unfortunately means out-of-range.

4. While he's in that body he takes on all of that body's physical ability scores. It's a gray area what his subtype is but I'd imagine he's undead while in an undead body, but I'm not sure on this one whatsoever.

5. Another similar question - I'd probably rule he's affected, but I could also see him taking mental actions only whilst his body flees or cowers. Another gray area.
