Hi all, I just have a quick question -- does the limit on PP spent on a power apply to the Elan resilience racial ability? It seems like there should be no cap, since you can use it without a level in a manifesting class, but I wanted to check. Thanks!

There doesn't appear to be a limit, though you shouldn't relie on it to absorb damage for you, as that can rapidly drain PP. Learn something like Biofeedback, instead, damage reduction is better. Or, since you are likely a psion, stay out of effective combat range. Or, failing that, make yourself harder to hit in the first place, with powers like Concealing Amorpha and its greater version.

I'm making an Elan Psychic warrior for an arena tournament on another site.... Right now with the enhanced elan resilience feat from CPsi, Psionic body, and 2 x psionic talent, I can soak something like 32 points of damage, in addition to my 17 hp at level 1! Thanks for your help, but I dont see this guy as having a problem staying in melee range :D

Remember, you can only use it when you have an immediate action available. So if you are doing a swift power of some kind it means you can't do this in the same round.

Fatalis is right though. Better to avoid damage than take it. It works out more economically in the end.

I played an Elan psychic theurge and could wade into combat with no problem but I hardly used this ability (w/ the improved feat). Having a high AC is far superior. :D

There is no hard limit on the number of points you can feed into Resilience, but remember that every point you spend to soak up damage is one less you have to spend on your powers. Spend all of them and you can't even get focused. Your powers and feats are how you get things done. Unless you just want to be a durable punching bag, use Resilience only when you don't have a more point-efficient option and spend your points to dish out damage rather than take it.

I generally consider Resilience a last-resort ability. As-in, you WILL DIE when you don't use it, and you don't have anything better to use (such as tower of iron will). I'll use it when a strike will likely knock me unconscious or kill me, or when I'll likely be forced to make a Fortitude save or die from massive damage.

Beyond that, I'd rather use vigor + share pain (shared with my psicrystal) or even a power stone of body adjustment to heal up after the fact.

He's playing a 1st level psiwarrior in an arena duel. It is perfect for his needs.

Unless there are a lot of attacks coming in. He's probably better off playing a halfling numbers wise.

Or a human. That extra feat can come in real handy in one-shots.

From the info given.. I'd rather play a warforged psywarrior.

Adamantine Body + Force Screen + Dex (+1) alone gives you AC 23 to start with.

Get Deflection Field for desperate moments and you get AC 27 for at least 2 rounds.

You become the hell tank and this isn't even taking into account that you may have Vigor running.

Enjoy :D

I once played a Elan Cerbramancer who was the parties warrior. (Arcane Strike, Deep Impact, etc.)

So a psionic goblin walks into a bar and orders a drink, and the bartender says to him "Why so blue?" :rimshot:
