and I need answers!

Energy Conversion (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/energyConversion.htm) and Energy Adaptation (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/energyAdaptation.htm).

So, a few questions, since I keep hearing about the virtues of this delightful defensively offensive power.

1. How long does the energy damage remain stored in Energy Conversion? Energy adaptation has storned energy either dissipating without a visual display or giving off illumination for a number of rounds equal to amount of damage successfully resisted. Energy Conversion changes the illumination dissipation into an offensively fired ray, but has no apparant limit besides it's considerable duration for when/if the stored energy dissipates if not immediately used as a ray.

So my question is this: Do we take the Energy Adaptation's duration limitation for stored energy as applying to Energy Conversion, or should we assume no time limit for how long stored energy stays stored?

2. Would the fire planar trait (the 3d10 fire damage a round) be resisted by Energy Conversion? Energy Adaptation specifies "attacks" that are resisted, and one might wonder if a planar trait would be considered an attack...

Thanks in advance!

1. Energy Conversion says: "You can choose to fire any number of rays during the power's duration." So when the duration of 10 min/ML is over, so is the firing of rays. The decay rate of 1 round per point of damage absorbed only appears to apply to the flashlight effect of Energy Adaptation (which does not appear to apply to Energy Conversion; it says you store up energy to be fired as a ray instead of radiating light.).

2. If a supernatural effect supplies energy resistance, and a given planar trait does energy damage of the appropriate type, then the resistance applies. If you are using Energy Conversion then you will be able to shoot off rays of the appropriate energy type. In practice don't expect anyone to be impressed; if you are on the plane of fire, absorbing fire damage to shoot as rays, natives of the plane will not generally be concerned and even most visitors will have defenses comparable to your own or they wouldn't be there. You could charge up on an elemental plane, then plane shift to do some blasting, but for the points and actions on plane shifting plus Conversion you probably could have pulled off something more impressive.

The natives might be rather amused, however, regarding your apparent attempt to fit in.

The ray you fire must be of one of the energy types you have stored (if you have stored more than one type, you can choose what kind of energy to use for each ray).

So use Energy Conversion on the plane of fire, soak up several hundred points of fire energy, and have your buddy uses ray of frost on you. You can now blast out several hundred points of frost damage.

(don't forget to share the share the power with your psicrystal too for twice the blasting fun!)

Unlikely. Per the SRD (emphasis mine):

"...the target takes damage equal to the amount of energy damage of that type you have stored, up to a maximum of three times your manifester level"

At the very least, you'd need a lot of rays of frost to get the full effect of at least 39 points per ray. Also, any DM worth her salt would make you keep track of the stored energy by type and take points off the cold total when you use a cold ray. Even though the power description doesn't say this explicitly.
