Hey, I'm just wondering, what's everyone's favorite psionic powers? Not necessarily the ones you like to use the most, but the ones that just sound awesome to you. Powers with style.

Personally, I love baleful teleport and assimilate. The images these powers arouse in me are just awesome. They capture the feel that I like best about psionics. You just can't do this with arcane or divine.

Psionic Divination FTW
No need to predict how many times you might need it in a day, instead able to adapt to the situation as it develops. Ask a question, get an answer. Not a 'yes'/'no' answer, but one or more sentences. Never lies, never wrong.

Astral construct. Words cannot describe the versitality and fun this power offers. You can do just about anything with this

Direct damage may suck, but I loves me some Crystal Shard.

Astral Constuct + Anathemic Carapace, Charge + Power Attack + Smite followed by self destruct on the following turn = joy. Mind thrust is also very fun, as my DM has ruled that death versus mind thurst = jour head esplode! (okay, not really, but thier brains do leak out of thier head in a bloody gooey mess)

My single favourite for overall entertainment would have to be clairtangent hand. There's nothing quite like causing trouble from an unlimited safe distance.

One of my favourites for pure style is cranial deluge. There is no better way to show off your mental powers than making someone's head explode.

One of my favourites is Dimension Twister. It's just awesome! If a nasty is in your face, get it out of your way quick-like, with a rather nasty smack on the bottom. To add death to injury (potentially), warp the enemy off a cliff :D Or straight up. Or into a bonfire.

I love powers with incredible versatility outside of their 'standard' use.

Astral construct and psionic minor/major creation top the list, followed shortly by time hop.

The more imaginative I can be with a power, the better I like it.

I also like touchsight, especially if I can convince the DM that touchsight + Burrowing Power = XRAY VISION...

Time Hop. Such a great utility power and so good for battlefield control that they may as well have named it Disintegrate, Temporary. Nothing, in all of D&D is more fun than facing a mounted, charging opponent and Time Hopping the mount right out from under him. The look on his face as he plows into the turf is priceless. If it is a flying mount then all the better. If the hapless rider gets trampled by his own mount as it returns (still in motion) a few rounds later, then the DM may not be able to restore order at the table.

The power is also good for bypassing locked doors, removing other obstacles, and messing with opponent's combos. When an enemy party's mage and cleric are stacking buffs on their combatants (you know the drill: A fighter comes charging at you with Haste, Bull's Strength, Heroism, Dolorous Blow, etc., because the casters decided to pool their efforts into a single champion) just hop that guy out, kill the casters, then be ready to dispel the pumped thug when he returns without caster support.

I've always liked the classic telekinesis powers. IMO, incoporiality is only half the reason to take Uncarnate. The other half is free TK force. Maybe it's becuse I'm a Jedi fanboy, but I have more fun with these than any other power. Useing Force to levitate a monster, then Thrusting it from the maximum height of the lift? That's a lot of falling damage.

I like the a lot of the above mentioned.. but I also like..

Energy Push - fry and push them back.. Emperor Palpatine FTW :D

TK Force, Plane Shift & Genesis.

I always take Plane shift, despite not doing any planar travel. Genesis likewise - a stone of it is probably more cost effective.

I think mine is sensetivity to psychic impressions. It's tough to decide. There are so many clairsentient powers that just make me go "ooooh, wow!" The chances of putting some of them to good use in any given game is kind of slim, but I love them anyway.

Sensitivity to Psychic Impressions
Clairsentience
Level: Seer 2
Display: Auditory and material
Manifesting Time: 1 hour
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Area: Spread with a radius of 25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels, centered on you
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 min./level
Saving Throw: None
Power Resistance: No
Power Points: 3

Rooms, streets, tunnels, and other discrete locations accumulate psychic impressions left by powerful emotions experienced in a given area. These impressions offer you a picture of the location’s past.

The types of events most likely to leave psychic impressions are those that elicited strong emotions: battles and betrayals, marriages and murders, births and great pain, or any other event where one emotion dominates. Everyday occurrences leave no residue for a manifester to detect.

The vision of the event is dreamlike and shadowy. You do not gain special knowledge of those involved in the vision, though you might be able to read large banners or other writing if they are in your language.

Beginning with the most recent significant event at a location and working backward in time, you can sense one distinct event for every 10 minutes you maintain concentration, if any such events exist to be sensed. Your sensitivity extends into the past a maximum number of years equal to 100 x your manifester level.

Just imagine being able to glance thousands of years into the past! If you can make this persistant (Persistant Power is in Hyperconcious, right?) then there would be nothing to stop you from seeing everything important that happened in a given area.

And for a detective... forget about it.

I choose Mind Thrust. It may be a Save-or-Suck power, it fits perfectly to my vision of psionicists. (I think therefore you die.)

Dimension Hop off of Freedom Mantle. I'm playing an erudite with it right now, and the ability to reposition yourself as a swift action is really nice.

Crystal Body from Dragon Magic is nice, giving a decent lot of immunities.

(Other favorites already mentioned are time hop, touchsight, vigor)

TK Thrust. Psion's don't go to alleys to bowl, they do it in dungeons.*

Also, Control Body on yourself, followed with Solicit Psycrystal. It lets you use INT for nearly everything, and attack at the same time as manifesting.

Laslty, Metamorph shared with your Psicrytal.

*I know it doesn't work that way, but it should.

Psionic Minor Creation: Remember, most poisons in D&D are made out of natural products. Take Black lotus extract for example. 1 cubic foot is equal to 998.84736 ounces of water, or 998.84736 full vials, or 998 doses of the Black lotus extract. At level one.

You can get a surprisingly large Craft check if you think about it a bit.

+4 - Int 18
+3 - Skill Focus: Craft (Alchemy) or Craft (Poison)
+3 - Psicrystal Affinity: Artiste
+2 - Aid Another (Psicrystal)
+2 - (MW) My Little Book o' Poisons
+4 - Ranks in Craft (Alchemy) or Craft (Poison)
-------
+18 on Craft checks at level 1.

Of course, you can also use other things to help, as well.
+2 - Animal affinity
+2 - Precognition
Reroll Once - Second chance
+4 - Greater precognition
+2 - Aid another (schism)
+2 - Skill synergy with Survival?

Also, aren't the Craft checks just for extraordinarily complicated items, such as crossbows? I wouldn't think that a simple chemical would require one.

I'm fond of Crisis of Life, there's just something neat about causing people to die of heart attacks.
Also its an important power in my campaign, the campaign is roughly based on death note.

In general, a "common task" is around DC 10. (I say 10 because that's the cutoff for untrained Knowledge checks, and also what a character with a +0 ability score bonus can get by taking 10-- in other words, what an average person could be expected to do on a daily basis.) Since crafting a Masterwork weapon is DC 20, higher DC tasks probably wouldn't be considered "common". DC 35 is right out.

Granted, it's debateable whether you could Psi. Create, Minor some arsenic, since it's elemental, and more notably semi-metallic. At least, I think so. I know it's similar to Carbon.

Vigor. I have a fond memory burned into my mind of leaping off of a cliff onto a boat (at 3rd level, mind you) to take the pirates by surprise and kill them all. Without vigor, the fall would have been too much of a risk. Without vigor, I could not have survived the hail of spears and crossbow bolts that greeted me after I got in my first 2 rounds of killing.

It may not be the coolest power ever, but it gives low-level nobodies the chance to be the coolest low-level heroes ever.

Egowhip;

0 in any stat=dead. Makes you almost wish you didn't make it a dump stat.
InkBlot

01-23-08, 02:31 PM
That's not quite right, JimProfit. 0 in Con means you're dead. 0 in Dex or Strength means you're paralyzed. 0 in Wis, Int, or Cha means you're in a coma.

So, technically, the coup de grace that comes a round or two after one of your stats is zeroed means your dead.
