| Bauglir06-11-07, 09:45 PM | I've been looking around through all of the books I can find, but I haven't been able to find many power with the Fear descriptor. In fact, my total so far has been 1 (Cerebral Phantasm), plus Primal Fear (which must have been a typo. It has to have been. It must be a Fear effect). I'd really much prefer to build the character as a Psion, but it's focused on fear-based things. I know there are a lot of spells that would do the trick, but could anyone point me in the direction of appropriate powers? |

| Bauglir06-11-07, 10:06 PM | Already done. I'm looking for more along the lines of actual powers known, though. Thanks, however. That's a really great prestige class, in my opinion, and actually what made me think of going and looking for fear based powers. |

Hyperconscious has the following powers: - Head Trip, which isn't exactly a fear effect, but does scare the pants off of the target and imposes a will save penalty - Phantasmal Killer, which has an augmentation that increases the save DC, and has another augmentation that allows you to affect more than one person at a time. Untapped Potential has: - Flourish, which gives cumulative morale bonuses to the attack/damage rolls of allies and morale penalties to attack/damage rolls to enemies (which counts as a fear effect) whenever the manifester succeeds on melee abilities such as disarming, tripping, bull rushes, and the like. - Unearthly Terror, which shakes those who fail the will save, with augmentation for stronger fear effects for those who fail or succeed the save. Not exactly a treasure trove of fear-based powers, but I think they can be pretty good. |

Anyone who even comes within a 1000ft of you should make a save, or tremble out of fear of your mental strength. Umm, how about form of doom? The make a save or become frightened or something along those lines. Psychic Warrior 6th though, so take expanded knowledge. It's an awesome power! |
| ShaRd200006-12-07, 07:34 AM | I see your form of doom, and raise you the Primordial Surge feat from Hyperconscious. Crit anyone and it gives em the shaken condition, that cannot be negated or dispelled. |
| Lycanthromancer06-12-07, 06:16 PM | Demoralize causes enemies to become shaken. It SHOULD be a fear effect, meaning that multiple manifestations would have them running scared. Note I said "should." Shaken, not stirred. (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Shaken_%28SRD_Term%29) Note that it says that shaken is simply a less severe version of the other two, so it's scaring your targets regardless. Would multiple manifestations stack? |
| Genetic06-12-07, 09:53 PM | My favorite part about fear descriptor powers is the Quori Mindhunter from Magic of Eberron. Awesome flavor. Most useless class ability I have ever seen. It increases the save DC of your fear descriptor powers by 1. You know, all three of them in existence. That's assuming you don't accidentally skip over them. Oh, and it also gives you a -2 to resist fear effects. What makes it even better is that they tell you to take telepathy powers so they can benefit from the above class feature... Wish they'd errata that class feature to be "all mind-affecting powers" or something. |
