| teshen01-28-08, 04:53 AM | What happens when a character manifests fission, then one of the two manifests true mind switch? Does the character recombine with the body and the two different minds now have to meld together or do the two minds come back together and the now two different bodies have to merge? |
| Vermifaux01-28-08, 09:10 AM | All powers affecting a fissioned creature, either the original or the duplicate, end when the fission ends. p108 EPH (fission entry) |
| Suldarr'essalar01-28-08, 01:25 PM | All powers affecting a fissioned creature, either the original or the duplicate, end when the fission ends. p108 EPH (fission entry) True Mind Switch has Instantaneous duration, so the power is no longer present (active) when fission ends. |
| DracoPhoenix01-30-08, 02:43 AM | Only the mind is transfered. So only the mind of the half that mainifested TM would switch over, leaving the other guy in the merged body, along with the mind of what ever you switched into. |
| AntiDjinn01-30-08, 03:23 AM | It is likely only your primary body ("you") can manifest True Mind Switch. Your duplicate won't have the 10 KXP to do so. Nothing in the power says XP is duplicated, so either it has none beyond what it earns during its brief existence, or it has to draw on your XP (in which case you will use the primary bod to manifest TMS rather than the one with two negative levels). Assuming it is your primary self who pulls off the TMS and the subject fails its save, here is what happens as I read it: "You" remain "you" in the new bod (right down to keeping your same hit points). "You" still have a fission duplicate who remains yours, but still looks like the old you. The fission power does not cause the dupe to keep up with physical changes that affect the primary bod, such as metamorphosis, so it does not morph to be a fissioned version of your new bod. The duration remaining for your duplicate is unchanged. When the fission power expires or is dismissed, it goes down exactly as the power specifies: You get back any power points the dupe has not spent and take half its damage. The fact that it is a dupe of your old body recombining with your new one is irrelevant; the recombination has no transformative effects other than the power and hit point adjustment. Duplicated equipment simply goes away; it does not repair, damage, or transform equipment carried by you in your new body. As for what happens to the other guy: He winds up in your old body just like you had used TMS without fission. He is not re-absorbed because he is not in the body "you" were going to re-absorb, he is in the one you vacated (this is true regardless of which dupe manifests the power). |

There's another possibility: psionic item (dorje, or power stone will do). |
| AntiDjinn01-30-08, 02:52 PM | Yeah, I forgot about all those dorjes of True Mind Switch. At only 504,590 XP, minimum, to craft they must just be laying around for every fission duplicate to pick up. Note that a character with this amount of XP who has used it to nothing but level is character level 33. But you can certainly see why a character who would otherwise be level 34 would stay level 17 and pour all that XP into a single item. Well, except for the fact it would be a silly to use such an item: By definition if it works your target now has the item because he is in the body that was holding it last round. A powerstone of True Mind Switch is not exactly going to be common either. Manifest at 17th level the XP cost is 10,153. The market cost is 53,825 gold. |

Which is why the Psion crafts it himself. The XP cost isn't much more than manifesting it himself, and depending on how the effects are ruled, it might be worth doing. |
| Psionx01-30-08, 04:34 PM | What if you: microcosm a creature->put a ring of sustenance on its finger-> use a few psionic tatoo's of sustenance until ring is set->use psionic modify memory and start taking away all its memories->remove microcosm->fission then true mind switch? |

The dorje was... not a very fortunate example, I agree. |

You won't find many scrolls of spells with a 10,000 XP additional cost. This cost has to be paid by the maker of the item whether or not it ever gets sold or used. If purchased, the standard extra cost is 5 gold per XP, so that is 50,000 gold on top of the cost of the scroll or stone. This, by the way, applies for all items with a tacked-on extra XP cost. Given that XP cost is normally 1/25th of the market price, if the crafter took that 10,000 XP and made regular items could could produce a total market value of 250,000 gold. Instead he chooses to spend 153 XP to make the 3,835 gp item, then tack on 10,000 XP to bring the cost up to 53,835? |
| DracoPhoenix01-30-08, 06:19 PM | Psi Reform + Craft Power Stone + 25% off crafting gp feat + 25% off crafting xp feat, should at least make the thing cheaper. Then once deal with your old body, you could try to claim xp for the encounter. Or would that be taking the micky? |
