A few times I've seen people recomending focus-orientated characters take narrow mind (which makes the check easier), but I've never seen anyone recomend Steady Concentration (which removes the check altogether). Am I missing something obvious, or has this feat simply not been noticed?

It probably has to do with the fact that most of us don't own Races of Stone.

What does it do, specifically?

Take 10 on concentration checks... Wait here while I kick myself for not having noticed this sooner.

Wow, um...
I'd ask for the prereqs, except that would essentially be giving out the whole feat. I'm just going to assume they're pretty low.

They're ridiculously low, so low that most psionic characters and spellcasters would be stupid not to take it. Wow. Good find, Badger!

Of course, no one suggests Narrow Mind except as a prerequisite for Permanent Focus (Hyperconscious), and no one suggests Skill Focus (Concentration) (since you get the same bonus out of a Narrow-Minded psicrystal). They both cost a feat for things that don't pay off enough in the long run.

If you *want* to spend a feat to make sure you can refocus earlier, go ahead. This is also on top of whatever other feats you've spent that rely on your focus.

Meanwhile, since you don't fail skill checks on a natural 1, I'd rather go with items like the Tunic of Steady Spellcasting in the MIC. 2500 GP for +5 Concentration is exactly par for a skill booster item, except that it's in the Torso body slot, which no one ever uses (so it's essentially slotless).

....That said, I never considered Steady Concentration in the context of a Diamond Mind adept... ouch. (People already considered Wild Talent in that context; Steady Concentration is more reliable.)
