lonewolf147 03-28-07, 04:10 PM	Ok, I'm sure this is going to be one of those "can't read what's right under your nose" questions... but I can't find any info on how you figure out Free Manifestations. Like, how do you figure your FM per day or what powers can be freely manifested. Plenty of searches on the net only came up with more references to FM, but no descriptions. Slap me now or slap me later... who can help? :P
Nifft 03-28-07, 04:13 PM	If it's in regard to the Metamind, do yourself a favor and tape something over the text of those pages of your book. It means you get to manifest an unaugmented power "for free". All you lose is manifester levels! Bleah, -- N

Like "gain additional free manifestations of 0-level powers" or "Talents (0-level powers) cost 1 power point to manifest after a character uses up his or her allotted free manifestations per day" Most of the Psionic character sheets have a place to record FM per Day.
Nifft 03-28-07, 04:41 PM	Huh, haven't heard of 0 level powers ("talents") since 3.0e PsiHB. The 3.5e Expanded Psionics Handbook only has 1st through 9th level powers. Guess that explains it. :) Cheers, -- N
lonewolf147 03-28-07, 04:53 PM	That makes sense then. What about the FM of unaugmented powers and manifester level loss you mentioned... where did you get that? I like the idea of manifesting unaugmented powers for free, by why the level loss, and would that be permanent or just until the psion rested? How do you determine your FM per day? Would the FM also apply to any of the powers that can be cast immediate like Intellect Fortress, etc?
JayceMD 03-28-07, 05:02 PM	Except for the Metamind, there are no free manifestations in 3.5 psionics. So, this would actually be a good time to clarify whether you're playing with the 3.0 or 3.5 ruleset. It may just be that you're using 3.0 character sheets but playing with 3.5 rules. If that's the case, then just disregard references to 0th level powers and free manifestations, just as you ignore the innuendo and animal empathy skills. If you still have questions, please be sure to mention whether you're playing 3.0 or 3.5.

In 3.0 psionics, you had 0 level powers ("talents") which you could manifest for free 3+ML times per day, and for 1pp afterwards. This was scrapped in 3.5.Most of the Psionic character sheets have a place to record FM per Day.See, you're just looking at old character sheets (REALLY old, before April 2004). Look at newer, better ones -- like The Mad Irishman's or Ema's Sheets -- and you'll clearly see that they're no longer present.
lonewolf147 03-28-07, 06:05 PM	Yep, I'm seeing that now. old 3.0 stuff. I wasn't catching that 3.0/3.5 part since I was also using eTools, which even on their 3.5 sheets, was still displaying Free Manifestations and PsyWar stuff. I'll have to talk to them about fixing it. Thanks all!
