| axenome06-16-07, 09:26 PM | Wilder Build. Assumes the Wilder has a Cha of 19, level 20, no equipment or inherent bonuses. Feats: Psycrystal Affinity, Psicrystal Containment, Twin Power, Quicken Power, Expanded Knowledge: Schism. Powers: Schism, Ego Whip. 1) Begin the fight with Schism already manifested, and both manifestor and Psicrystal psionically focused. 1a) Available actions: Full round(Main Mind) + 1 standard purely mental(Secondary mind). 2) Secondary Mind Wild Surge to ML 15(5% chance of enervation). Manifests an Ego Whip augmented to 4d4 Cha Damage, Will DC 22. 3) Main mind Wild Surge to ML 21(5% chance of enervation). Main mind expends psionic focus to Quicken Ego Whip for 4d4 Cha Damage, Will DC 22. 4) Wild Surge to ML 25 (25% chance of enervation). Main mind expends the psionic focus of the Psicrystal to manifest a Twinned Ego Whip augmented to 5d4 Cha each, Will DC 24. (2 x 4d4) + (2 x 5d4) = 18d4 Cha damage. Average damage as follows: 4d4 Failed= Avg 10, Succeeded= Avg 5 Plus 4d4 Failed= Avg 10, Succeeded= Avg 5 Plus 5d4 Failed= Avg 12.5 Succeeded= Avg 6.25 Plus 5d4 Failed= Avg 12.5 Succeeded= Avg 6.25 If the target makes all 4 saves, he/she/it takes an average of 22.5 Cha damage. If the Target fails all four saves he/she/it will take an average of 45 Cha damage. Expect something in between; this is why a Wilder should never fear a dragon. Or anything else with a mind, for that matter. End of Insert |
| TheKeyofE06-16-07, 10:15 PM | This is why Ego Whip should read Save: Will negates instead of Will (half). But it certainly looks nice. The combo is only 54 pp (plus Schism beforehand), so a lvl 20 Wilder with 400+ pp could do this several times per day. Even the high chance of enervation wouldn't hurt too much because the BBEG is already dealt with. Just make sure your teammates can handle his/her minions. Just watch out for PR. The ML 25 twinned would probably penetrate just fine, but the ML 21 and 15 might have problems, cutting your total damage in half. |

Delay Enervation is in Complete Psionic, for added reliability and cheese. Not that I support that book... Yeah, the only problem with this setup is power resistance. Reminds me of the time I one-shotted the endboss in City of the Spider Queen with a tornado blast because I knew I didn't have a chance at overcoming her spell resistance (my old DM has sworn off of psionics due to that little incident, even though he'll still admit the system is more balanced and more elegant than Vancian spellcasting). You always should have a fallback power that reliably ignores power resistance (preferably in an area effect, spell turning also sucks). |
| AntiDjinn06-17-07, 10:03 PM | Also add the points to do a test poke with a relatively innocuous single-target power before hand to make sure Redopsi or similar is not present. If this combo gets reflected you will drop just as your target would, even if you make the save. For any single-target nova you take this risk. Since it sucks so bad when it happens, it is prudent to check. |
| Soahc06-18-07, 03:07 PM | I hate when this happens, someone finds a combination of feats and powers, that has a ridiculous outcome... this is pretty much a one hit KO. Does anyone know any guaranteed combos with the Psy war:D, not including metamorphisis? |
| Lycanthromancer06-18-07, 03:11 PM | You hate it, but you want some tips on how to do it? Antipode much? |
| Harbin_Dunewalker06-19-07, 01:00 AM | DM: "The raging orc barbarian charges at you . . ." Wilder: *Manifests Ego Whip* DM: " . . . and crumples to the ground in an unconscious heap." :D Works with dwarves, too. Quite a lot of fighter-types have low CHA. 5d4 Charisma damage HURTS when you've only got 8 CHA in the first place. |
