Gem Dragons, Asexual? [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-01-07, 10:17 PM A buddy of mine told me he read somewhere that Gem Dragon's were asexual yet I haven't been able to find anything anywhere that supports this theory.

Normally I wouldn't bother asking something like this but seeing as two of the main powers in our campaign are a pair of Gem Dragons (Emerald and Amethyst) I'm curious to know whether there is any truth to said rumor?

If anyone knows would you mind telling me or sending me a link to someplace that will?

09-02-07, 12:29 AM Well the guy is pretty much a living dictionary, he's memorized pretty much everything for 3rd ed. so we're usually encline to believe him. The fact that he's seldom ever wrong doesn't really help.

So they're definately not physically asexual.

It's entirely possible that they don't have a sex drive at all, mating is something they do to procreate and not have fun, but that's not supported officially. (Up to the DM to decide if he wants to use that ruling or not.)

09-02-07, 07:20 AM I'm afraid he got it wrong. As you can see here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20030124a), the thanes of Sardior at least have a clearly defined gender. There's no reason why ordinary (non advanced) gem dragons shouldn't.
