| Raziel184506-26-07, 10:32 AM | I was wondering if the Elemental Envoy feat would be an ok choice for a Githyanki Illithid Slayer. My DM is ruling that every time the steward gets an increase in manifester level from the chart in complete psionic, it gets an additional hit die. I was planning on getting a geodite and using the share power ability so I could buff it to be a half-way decent fighter along side of me. However, a pyshic warrior/slayer build would be running low on pp doing this. An Ardent/slayer would definatly have more pp, but it would lack the feats as well as having a limited power selction because of mantles. Should I just give up on the idea of trying to use an elemental steward as a back up fighter? Beyond that, given the favored enemy bonuses for fighting mind flayers, I was thinking of making the character a two weapon fighter build, but I'm not sure if I could do that and the elemental steward idea. Any other build ideas or comments are welcomed. |

An envoy can be extremely useful, but not two feats worth of useful. Remember, the psychic warrior's strength is in the fact that he is (as Tempest has put it) the inflatable fighter. If you share all your stacking self-buffs with your sidekick, it can probably perform as a pretty potent partner. You still suffer from glass cannon syndrome, but one of you will still be buffed up and able to cover the other. If I was going to have an elemental envoy, I'd probably have him lug around a tower shield, spending a feat to be proficient with it. He can provide cover for my PC and also dart out from behind it to toss out an energy ray or two. I could give him some useful dorjes while I'm at it, for when he's exhausted his psi-like abilities. |

It's not so much an issue if the elemental envoy stays adjacent to me, but if I wanted it to go off on it's own, it'd be costly to buff myself and it. I might try to see if I can get my DM to waive the multiclass penalties and go for something along the lines of Psion 4/Ranger 2/Illithid Slayer 10/Fighter 2 for free Track and TWF, or if he doesn't Psion 4/Fighter 4/Illithid Slayer 10. That would still net me 16 bab at level 20 and the same caster level with practiced manifester as the psy warrior/slayer as well as 10 more powers and alot more power points. |
