I brought this up in a thread on another board about Spiderman's equipment. I'm thinking you people could answer it more readily. How much would it cost to buy a custom made Spiked Gauntlet that allowed the weraer to manifest Entangling Ectoplasm at will augmented to affect large or smaller creatures? I'm thinking of getting one made for my Beguiler so he can do something against the undead we'll be facing soon.

Priced by DMG rules, it comes out like this:

2(power level, raised as part of augment) x 3 (minimum manifester level to affect large creatures) x 750(for a charged item) x 2 (for switching from charges to unlimited uses) = 9000 GP + 305 (masterwork spiked gauntlet), so a grand total of 9,305 GP for unlimited uses/ day of entangling ectoplasm, on creatures up to large. I'd actually say it's a worthwhile investment even without the threat of undead, since the power has no saving throw, and no SR, and lasts 5 rounds regardless of ML.

Tasty.

True Spidey fans will get the power Ectoplasmic Strand (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/pse/20021220a) to throw around. Granted its 3.0 but you might be able to find a 3.5 conversion somewhere... (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-217690)

Ectoplasmic strand is so simple that it doesn't really need conversion. You might want to change the terminology to fit 3.5, but at most you could add an augment.

Below is 3.5 ectoplasmic strand. I just re-organized the description text, changed the terminology to fit the 3.5 power format, and added an obvious augment.
Ectoplasmic Strand
Metacreativity (Creation)
Level: Psion/Wilder 1, Psychic Warrior 1
Display: Auditory and material
Manifesting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25ft. + 5ft./Level)
Effect: A taut strand of ectoplasm
Duration: 1 minute/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Power Resistance: No
Power Points: 1

A single taut strand of ectoplasm is drawn from the Astral Plane and attaches itself to two objects within range. The distance between the two objects determines the length of the strand. The two objects must have a clear line of effect to each other. You must make a ranged touch attack if either object is not considered unattended or is a creature. One end of the strand can appear attached to one of your hands if you choose.

A single strand has 2 hit points and can be burst with a successful Strength check (DC 22). It is supple and adds a +1 circumstance bonus to Use Rope checks when it is the rope being used. The strand can be detached with a successful Strength check (DC 22) and tied to another object if so desired.

These strands instantly merge with other ectoplasmic strands when in contact with each other, allowing you to seamlessly connect the end of two strands or combine them to make a stronger strand. Two or more strands of thickness add 1 hit point and increases the Strength check DC to burst the rope by +1.

At the end of its duration, the strand dissipates harmlessly.

Augment: If you spend 2 additional power points, you can manifest this power as an immediate action, quickly enough to gain its benefits in an emergency.

Awesome, thanks for that. I couldn't figure out how augmenting the power during creation would affect the overall cost.

Well I'm not really going for any sort of Spiderman theme or anything even close to it. I just thought that that would be a great item for my Beguiler since he knows he'll be fighting things that his spells won't effect.
