| biopsiNC04-29-07, 05:55 PM | My question is specifically about greater stomp (from CPsi) - is it a decent battlefield control power for 5th lvl? I'm the primary manifester for the party so am trying to stay with a good mix of blasting, utility, self-buff, and group defense powers. Might be weak on the battlefield control element - all I've got is wall of ectoplasm. I was thinking this would make a good opener in a battle, see the bad guys and knock them down. What I like about greater stomp: - no SR/PR (have seen a lot of SR/PR lately) - line effect so I can miss my allies - no size limitation on who I can knock prone - untyped damage (everything seems to have resistance at these levels) What I dislike about greater stomp: - save negates everything, damage and knockdown - augments slowly - 2 PP for +1d6, +2d6 for +1 DC - the name - I think I'll call it "psychokinetic shock wave" How do you think greater stomp compares to other battlefield control powers? Do you even consider it a battlefield control power? Anyone have in-game experience with it? Thanks, I'll take my answer off the air. ;) |

If you have the feats to spare, you might want to use the Knockdown Power metapsionic feat instead. For battlefield control, don't forget Energy Wall. The duration in battle is kind of low (1 round/level, since you'll probably drop concentration immediately), but out of battle it's effectively infinite. This means that it's a great utility power. For example, a sonic wall can dig a pit 20 feet deep and over 100 feet long in a little over 30 minutes. Knocking down a 3-foot-thick stone wall only takes 11 minutes. Arrows will never survive a trip through a sonic wall. What's your psion's discipline and level? What's the composition of the party? |

I do have a psi feat at 10th, was planning on empower. Not looking to format and get any new powers/feats - did that a few levels ago and don't want to fall behind the rest of the party. Speaking of which, they are a cleric, artificer, daggerspell mage, and an NPC fighter. |
